EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH TIFFANY LAVIN OF TL MODELING AGENCY I caught up with Tiffany Lavin, owner of TL Modeling Agency, to ask a few questions about the modeling industry in Texas........ How Did You Get Started In The Modeling Industry? I first started modeling in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at the age of 15. My mom wanted me to
“come-out-of-my-shell” and have more self confidence. I did a few magazine shoots, commercials, music video’s and plenty of auditions. I’m only 5’5” so there wasn’t opportunity for me to do High-Fashion modeling. I found print modeling sucessful and fun!
Desiree
Why Did You Decide To Open An Agency? I want to give new models the opportunity to work in the industry. I’ve partnered with
many magazines that offer print jobs. I’ve also made relationships with various casting producers, photographers and production company’s, throught the country, in need of professional models.
How Do You Select Your Models? Every model that is signed to TL Modeling Agency is seen by me. Our agency receives several submissions a week, requesting an interview. We only allow people to come into the office after they have submitted a picture for the operations manager to review. Appointments are mandatory!
Do You Accept Everyone That Comes To The Interview? No. I can’t accept everyone. In the interview process I try to discover if they are the type of
Amber
person that can get work. Although, no guarantees are ever made in this business, you still want to sign people that are marketable. I have signed some really adorable kiddo’s lately (Big Smile).
Have You Sent Any Clients Out of the Country for Work? We recently sent our young model, Noelle Carter, to Cancun, Mexico for the
H&M Kids Summer Collection Photo Shoot! Look for her ad to come out early Summer 2013.
How Can People Contact You? We suggest new models visit our website at www.tlmodelingagency.com and fill out the JOIN OUR AGENCY form. Or call 1-855-TL-MODEL.

How To Choose The Right Lipstick.........
1.
Choose An Everyday Color Find a color that is one or two shades deeper than your natural lips. Experimenting with shades of pink is good for all skin tones. Keep it natural during the day. Less is more unless you are going to a fancy event.
2.
Finding The Right Red Fair skin tones should use coral reds or dark reds with blue undertones. Olive skin use pink and cranberry shades, and brick red. Dark skin shoud use reds with burgundy or brown tones.
3.
10
Matching Lips with Clothes Don’t match a lip color too closely with clothing. If you are wearing a bright pink dress, wearing a bright pink dress will be overwhelming.

boutique that provides women with fashion forward tropical clothing and accessories. My inspiration for my clothing line comes from my love of the laid back attitude of island life. I am proud to say I sew all of the clothing designs personally and make each garment to the customer’s specific measurements. My signature look is sun-dresses with classic silhouettes and flower appliqués. The quality and craftsmanship of my appliqués are unique and beautiful. The tropical flowers are hand cut from Hawaiian fabric and then sewn to the dress using a stitch that is less than 1/8 wide. The process is tedious, but ensures a beautiful look. Over the years I noticed that many of my customers were buying my signature sun-dresses to wear for their beach weddings. I soon realized that there was a need for a new innovative way for women to express themselves on their wedding day, with that my Island Beach Wedding Dress line was born.
IshKabibbles Owner, Kristin Meek, explains how she came up with the name IshKabbibles and her inspiration for the clothing The #1 question that I am asked about my business is: “Where did you get the name IshKabibbles from?” I got the name IshKabbibbles from my great grandmother. One of my fondest memories of her was all of the funny sayings and nicknames she gave every-
one. One of those nicknames was IshKabibble, which she often called my little sister. That nickname always stood out to me and when I was starting my clothing line I knew just what to call it. IshKabibbles is an on-line
These designs are for the IshKabbibble girl whos dream wedding dress does not consist of sequins and lace, but reflects the casual feel of the beaches she loves. The flowers on the dresses echo her love for the natural beauty around her. The soft drape of the fabric reminds her of the smooth ocean water flowing over her body. I am proud to introduce this line and hope that IshKabibles can be a part of you special day. IshKabbibbles not only carries a beautiful collection of destination wedding dresses; we also offer island inspired tops, linen pants and jewelry to complete your look. During the winter season (Nov-March) you can visit IshKabibbles at the Fort Pierce Farmers market each Saturday from 8-Noon. To see our entire collection please visit www.ishkabibblesdesigns.etsy.com.

How To Use Mascara Effectively.........
Whether you prefer thick lashes or a natural look, these tips will help you look just right.
1.
2.
3.
•Beginning at the base of the eyelash, apply the mascara by wiggling the wand back and forth, moving toward the tip of the lashes. The wiggling motion helps separate the lashes and prevents clumping. Mascara applied at the base of the lash gives the effect of thick lashes.
•Apply mascara to the top of your lashes as well as the underneath and sides. Allow mascara to dry. Avoid blinking during this process. Blinking will cause dark smudges under the eye. • If you use an eyelash curler, use it before applying mascara. If you end up with clumpy eyelashes, use an eyelash comb to seperate the clumps.
Be Original. Don’t Always Wear Black.

Will that tattoo look good at 50?
N
othing seems abnormal about having tattoos in today’s world. In fact, according to a 2010 Pew Research Center report, 38 percent of Americans ages 18-29 have tattoos. As they become more common, teens look to tattoos as fashion statements and forms of expression. Some teens claim getting a tattoo was a personal choice, while others admit to being pressured into it. Eunice Onyelobi, a senior at Kenwood, has 14 tattoos. “A big reason why I wanted to get tattoos was indeed peer pressure,” she said. “And once I got my first one, I got addicted.” Though the act of expressing oneself may seem harmless, how will these pieces of permanent body art affect teens in the future? Especially with job and college applications in the mix, most teens want to make a good first impression. With tattoos becoming more acceptable in society, at least one student believes the future leaders of corporate America will most likely be branded themselves. “Because kids are getting tattoos at such younger ages now, everyone is getting them and they’re getting a lot of them,” said Markeira Davis, a senior at Kenwood, who has four tattoos. “The people that are going to be hiring will have tattoos.” Davis adds that tattoos shouldn’t be a factor when it comes to employment because it doesn’t affect the person’s ability to get the job done. But there’s still a chance that employers or college admission officers can
32
make negative prejudgments based on tattoos. Alicia Young, a Simeon senior who has five tattoos, disagrees with Davis. “Since it is so much of a trend, people are getting a little bit excessive and outrageous ... no one wants to see a doctor with tattoos,” she said. “You just wouldn’t be able to take them (seriously).” Like Young, Lindblom college math advisor Jessica Salazar believes tattoos will never be completely acceptable. “It’s going to affect your future when you get a job,” Salazar said. “Employers see it as rebellious behavior. And if you do have tattoos, you have to do long sleeves. It’s going to be a life-changing decision.” While Salazar realizes that tattoos will be more common in the future, she said she thinks some jobs will still look unfavorably upon applicants with tattoos, depending on the industry. “It will never change the fact that it’s going to look rebellious,” she said. Though some teens may look forward to a future of acceptance with tattoos, others focus on the current state of acceptance when considering whether or not to get a tattoo. Waiting can lead to wiser decisions about what kind of tattoo you get—and where. “You really have to think it out,” Young said. “The way you felt when you got the tattoo ... you may not feel that way when you get older.”----Briana Tomlinson
If you’re a typical teenager with parents who always nag you about what you eat, how you eat, when you eat or don’t eat, and the amount of junk food you consume, these comments will sound familiar to you.
“You need to eat your breakfast,” “that’s enough soda,” “please lose the junk food and eat some real food.” Give your parents a break, they are just doing their job. They want you to eat properly so you’ll develop, be healthy, and keep your moods balanced.

Em&Lee opened its doors in 2007, establishing itself as a trendy yet affordable boutique in the historic River
Oaks Shopping Center, located in the heart of Houston, Texas. The main goal was clear and unique: to create a friendly specialty boutique that catered to fashionable ladies of all ages, providing them with a variety of merchandise that wouldn’t break the bank. The women in and around Houston responded remarkably
Em&Lee provides the perfect selection of women’s apparel by continuously filling the stores with everything
from semi-formal cocktail dresses, casual tops, one of a kind jewelry pieces, functional bags and – never forget – the SHOES: Beautiful heels, fun flats, sandals and more!
Our killer staff strive to ensure that every completed head-to-toe outfit they assist in putting together for you
will be flawless and completely unique. Limited quantities of our hand-picked selections satisfy our customers, leaving them confident that they won’t see their special outfit on anyone else.
Em&Lee designed their clothing brand name “Willa” shortly after. Willa Brand clothing looks to pinpoint the on-trend styling points of the ever-fashionable and easy feminine Texas woman. In a nutshell: Willa is soft, beautiful and current.
With much anticipation, Em&Lee’s second location opened in Midtown, soon becoming the neighborhood’s
go-to shopping destination for any occasion. Loyal customer’s suggestions helped guide Em&Lee to find welcoming spots in the celebrated Rice Village, Sugar Land’s Town Center, and The Woodlands’ Market Street as well.
The first “Willa Boutique” opened in College Station following Em&Lee’s same merchandising collection,
maintaining current fashions with fabulous prices. In years following, customers also supported the opening of Willa Boutique in Plano, and the Willa shoe and accessory Boutique in the Rice Village.
What began as a simple concept has now developed into a unique clothing line being sold at multiple locations throughout the Houston and Dallas metropolitan areas as Em&Lee and Willa Boutique.
From the beginning the developers of Em&Lee / Willa recognized that women and girls deserved a specialty store in their neighborhood shopping centers. A store that carries the right styles at prices they didn’t have to be afraid of.
Due to the encouraging support of these customers who made all of this happen, all of us here at Em&Lee/ Willa cannot wait to see where the future will take us – possibly your neighborhood shopping center?
