President’s Message By Marc Worob, DDS, FAGD

“To be an overachiever you have to be an over believer.” - Coach Dabo Swinney

A few weeks ago the Clemson Tigers football team did the unthinkable. They knocked off The University of Alabama to win the College Football National Championship. Few people gave them much of a chance, but because of the encouragement and motivation of their coach, along with a lot of hard work, they were victorious. What does this have to do with Texas AGD, you ask? I believe the same passion that led Clemson to victory is what drives all of us to be better dentists and leaders of our teams. This leads me to propose a few questions for you to consider so that you can create the vision to help you and your team succeed. •

What do you believe is possible for YOU and YOUR TEAM?

Are YOU pessimistic or optimistic?

What beliefs are YOU sharing with YOUR team?

What could YOU and YOUR team accomplish if YOU truly believed it was possible?

WOW, the New Year is off to a great start at Texas AGD! The New Dentist Conference and the Lone Star Dental Conference committees are reinventing these two meetings and creating events that you must put on your calendar. They both have some great speakers and hands-on classes that are not to be missed. The Advocacy Council, led by Dr. Brooke Elmore, has been on top of all the issues along with our lobbyist, David Mintz. The primary issues have been the Sunset Commission review of the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, anesthesia and sedation rules, and the bill to allow hygienists to administer anesthesia. Please look for updates in the Gatekeeper and try to be at Legislative Day on February 22nd in Austin. We must have our voices heard on these issues so we can continue to practice dentistry in this state the way we want. For more details, please visit the TDA website to register and join Texas AGD for a get together afterwards at Roaring Fork to talk about the day. Along with these groups, all of our components across the state are busy doing local CE. I am amazed at how many events many of them host. I hope the vision you create for you and your team will include supporting your local components by attending their events and at least one of our two statewide conferences. Please come and share your passion with others.
