STUDENTS Enrich the intellectual and community life at Texas Tech Law, and provide opportunities for talented, highly motivated students to succeed.
“
Many of our students have overcome significant challenges to arrive at Texas Tech Law—including simply securing the financial means to do so. We are committed to reducing student debt and maintaining affordable tuition in this era of rising costs. And while we provide numerous generous scholarships, we are not able to meet the financial needs of all our students.
Scholarships increase access and opportunity for our students. We are also committed to developing the real-world, practical skills that every lawyer needs for a fantastic career in the profession. Lectureships enable our students to interact and develop relationships with important leaders and professionals in a variety of fields, enriching their educational experience.
“Scholarships relieved the financial uncertainty of coming back to school as a nontraditional student. By allowing me to focus on school, scholarships helped me excel as a first-year student. My law school experience has been life changing, and it would not have been possible without the gift of scholarship.”

FACULTY
Enhance our reputation by recognizing the contributions of professors who enrich our students’ academic experience.
A law school’s reputation— and U.S. News and World Report ranking—is measured in substantial part by the strength of its faculty.
“
Endowed faculty appointments are a sought after and widely recognized accolade.
The endowed professorship I hold has provided crucial and muchneeded support for my teaching, research, and service. In particular, it has allowed me to better educate our students and put them on the best path to success as lawyers and public servants.

They are crucial for recruiting and retaining professors who will teach our students, serve the public, and drive our mission of excellence.
As a younger law school, Texas Tech Law has many outstanding professors who lack the recognition and support of an endowed professorship, and only one faculty member has an endowed chair. Expanding endowed appointment opportunities will keep our faculty strong and build a better future for our students.

PROGR A D V O C ACY P R O G R A M From our first national championship back in 1980 to our top national rankings today, Texas Tech law students—coached by our faculty and alumni— learn and develop practical lawyering skills by conducting legal research, drafting briefs, and participating in competitions that test client counseling, negotiation, trial skills and appellate advocacy.

Working in the Criminal Defense Clinic was the pinnacle of my entire law school career. I had the opportunity to zealously advocate, in and out of the courtroom, for indigent people of Lubbock County. I was fortunate enough to work under some great attorneys and with some great friends to advance the cause of indigent defense. With my practical experience, I feel ready to go out and begin defending others.
LIVE-CLIENT CLINICAL PROGRAM Our clinical program prepares students for the responsibilities of being a lawyer—counseling clients, meeting deadlines, negotiating, trial preparation, and case trials—under the supervision of excellent teachers who are also brilliant lawyers.

DEAN'S INITIATIVES Establish a vital source of steady and adaptive support that strengthens every aspect of the Texas Tech Law academic experience.
In the face of a pandemic, the move to online instruction and the transition to working from home required a significant amount of creativity, ingenuity, and flexibility. For the Law School, a robust Foundation and the unrestricted funding provided by our generous donors helped us move quickly to purchase laptops, microphones, and webcams for students, faculty, and staff who needed these items to learn and work remotely.
Throughout a normal academic year, there are numerous opportunities and challenges that arise. The needs of our students constantly change with the legal market. Unrestricted gifts keep the Law School responsive to our students' immediate needs, allow us to capitalize on opportunities, and respond quickly to challenges as they arise.
“
The admitted student travel stipend is what ultimately allowed me to make the decision to attend Texas Tech University School of Law. I was unable to make a campus visit without the travel stipend, and I honestly would not have considered attending Texas Tech Law had I not visited. I am very grateful that I was able to visit this incredible university.

Provide a crucial source of funding with an immediate positive impact for our students, faculty, and programs.
Annual gifts provide an important source of flexible revenue that has an impact on today's students, faculty, and programs. These gifts are how our alumni give back to the Law School that has given them so much and pay it forward to ensure that future lawyers have the same wonderful experience.
Annual support can be just as significant as endowment support. For example, at over 8,000 members strong, a donation of $100 from every alum would generate $800,000 in spendable funds, the equivalent of a $20 million endowment. 18
