KEY STORYLINES

» LA Tech Set for 4th Consecutive Bowl Appearance Louisiana Tech is set to appear in the program's fourth straight bowl game on Dec. 20 when the Bulldogs take on the SMU Mustangs in the inaugural 2017 DXL Frisco Bowl at Toyota Stadium. LA Tech is one of only two Group of 5 programs this bowl season that has won three consecutive bowl games (along with WKU). They are one of only eight total programs in the nation to do so (along with Clemson, Virginia Tech, Utah, Georgia, Wisconsin, Stanford and WKU). » LA Tech to Face Former WAC Foe SMU When Louisiana Tech faces off against SMU in the 2017 DXL Frisco Bowl, it will not only mark the team's fourth consecutive bowl appearance since 2014, but it will also be a reunion of sorts between the Bulldogs and Mustangs. LA Tech and SMU were both members of the Western Athletic Conference from 2001-04 with the two teams facing each other once a year in that span. SMU joined the WAC in 1996 before leaving for Conference USA, which LA Tech is currently a member of, in 2005. The Bulldogs became members of the WAC in 2001 before joining C-USA in 2013, while SMU departed from C-USA that same year to join the American Athletic Conference. In LA Tech's first game as members of the WAC in 2001, the Bulldogs played hosts to SMU at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, where the Bulldogs brought home a 36-6 victory over the Mustangs to open season.
