Dr. J. W . Carr, the first president of Murray State College, is chiefly responsible for the construction of the new stadium. It was through his untiring efforts and planning that funds were secured with which to build the playing field for the Thoroughbreds.

Known as the " Grand Old Man" of Murray, Dr. Carr, 74 years young, is active and energetic, ready on a moment's notice to lead his beloved Racehorses to victory.

The man who made Murray State College possible is Dr. Rainey T. Wells. His dream of an outstanding college in Western Kentucky has come true. He gave the Murray College athletes their name -"Thoroughbreds." Through hi s efforts, the college wa!! founded , laws were passed, funds were raised, athletics and varsity activities were promoted.

No more enthusiastic man ever breathed than Dr. Wells. He has frequently traveled 500 miles just to see hi:; boys battle to victory. Whether leading cheers or walking up and down the sidelines, Dr. Wells is a true example of the name his boys are carrying- "Thoroughbreds."

Coach John Miller, a letterman of Murray S tate, has played the game for MUl'ray and is now -coaching the Yearlings so that they may be ready for t h e var sity next year.
