WESTERN STATE TEACHERS COLLEGE W
ESTERN! The new school from the western part of the Commonwealth.
Not so
long ago one heard of a school by that name and in that section of the state. Today, we know of a great institution called Western State Teachers College, which is preparing for the state and nation many fine citizens.
Centre is proud to be host to the Hilltoppers, who come to represent such a great organization on the football field.
We boast with them for
Coach Carl "Swede" Anderson, who not so many years ago did his part on Cheek Field for Olde Centre, and who is now engaged in preparing football stars for Western.
Hilltoppers, we like your sportsmanship. You have shown clean sportsmanship on both field and floor, and we stand together COACH SWEDE ANDERSON
you to Cheek Field and Danville.

ITH the exception of Riggs Sullivan, the I g35 Sophomore Champion Basket. ball squad is ready to take the floor again in December for a bigger and
better season in 1936.
After two years of real team work, and with the addition of
several freshmen stars of last season including Elmer Smith, Shelton Gravitt, C. T. Alexander and Fred Bell should make them favorites for the S. I. A. A. Tournament crown. Final rating last year was second among eleven S. I. A. A. teams of the state, . and one of three favorites with Western Normal and ¡Murray, the finalists in the K. I. A. C. Tournament at Bowling Green. I.
This record was made possible by the support of Centre Students and friends of the college at the home games and on foreign courts.
In 1936 let's win the crown
for Centre by attending every game on the home court, and every foreign court.

SEPARA TE D EPARTMENTS FOR MEN A D WOMEN FULL Y ACCREDITED Centre College h as been educating young people for one hundred and sixteen years. There have been no depar tures from the two primary purposes of the college. The fir t is the building of Christian character. The second is a broadly cultural education in the liberal arts and sciences. Both of these principles are accepted by the present administration as correctly defining the attitude of the small college of liberal arts. It aims to develop cha racter. It is cultural and not vocati o nal. Centre College. in 1935 . presents a n ideal of education . that for more than a century in coun t less colleges has given to the nation its finest spi ri ts . and that ought not to be surrendered over ni ght for a purely utili tarian view of school and life.
