Cardinals Vanquish Mexico Poly, 34-6 The Lamar Tech Cardinals easily vanquished a game but out-classed Mexico Poly team, 34-6, in their 1962 football season opener. Lindley King, guard from Orange, started the romp by intercepting a pass and running 23 yards for a touchdown early in the first quarter. The conversion try was no good. With 7:03 left in the quarter, Harold Mayo went over from the two yard line and James Finch kicked the extra point. In the second quarter Ronnie Wright scored on a yard smash and Finch tallied the extra point. Windell Hebert pass-
ed to David Webb on a play that covered 71 yards for the T.D. and Finch kicked the conversion. After a scoreless third period, Ronnie Clamon ran 10 yards for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Finch's kick was good. The White Burros notched their only score when Sergio Tejada passed to Sergio Cano for six yards. The kick was no good. About 5,000 fans saw the Card opener which was played on a field wet from rain which fell shortly before game-time.
