ON THE COVER The cover of the 2003 Denver Broncos Media Guide is a tribute to wide receiver Rod Smith, a team captain each of the past two years and the club’s NFLPA Player Representative for the past three years. He is also a leader of the Broncos offseason conditioning program, being the only player in the past nine years to never have missed a workout in Denver. Since joining the team as an undrafted rookie free agent in 1994, Smith has established himself as one of the finest wide receivers in not only Denver Broncos history, but in the entire National Football League over the past six seasons. Entering his ninth year, Smith has caught 559 passes for 7,783 yards (13.9), with 49 touchdowns, and ranks first in Broncos history in career receiving yards, first in receiving touchdowns and second in career receptions.
