Diffusion Bryoney FawN Cartlidge // Press Pack
- Diffusion the scattering of light through translucent materials An exploration into the way that light interacts with a mixture of materials, this collection of work focuses on knit stitches and different techniques, and layering of papers to create beautiful illuminated interior pieces. Bringing together a body of research, drawings, laser cut and knit techniques, Diffusion discovers the highlights and shadows created as light shines through different translucent materials. Knitted silks of different weights have been mixed with other materials, such as felting wool and roving to create pieces that have beauty both with and without light. This is echoed with the paper work as different laser cut papers have been overlaid to create an intriguing piece where its secrets are revealed once lit.

- Bio I am a textile maker whose works focuses on creating interesting three-dimensional textures using a hand powered Knitting Machine mixed with a study of paper and light using Laser Cutting. Studying Textile Crafts at the University of Huddersfield has allowed me to use a broad range of skills within my work and combine a love of paper and yarn to create patterns and textures within pieces. Inspiration for my work comes from organic forms and patterns found in forests and woodland areas, mixed with a love of origami and exquisite papers. Shortlisted for the Sh! Awards in June 2012, a Yorkshire competition for creative students run by Brass Agency, a graphic design branding company. This really showed the potential of my work and the importance of great photography. Exhibited work at the 2013 Knit and Stitch show in Harrogate to promote the Knitting discipline of the Textile Crafts BA course for the University of Huddersfield.
