Hotel 1888 based in Sydney Australia was named the worlds first instagram hotel. The interior design nods to the buildings history of being a wool mill opening in 1888. The interior designers wanted to keep the character of the building and kept many of the original iron bark beams, exposed brick and wooden flooring. Suspending throughout the space are selfie frames allowing the guests to take and post selfies whenever they would like adding to the hotel’s massive social media presence. The selfie project was to respect the buildings history and create UV printed glass based on the phenomenon of the selfie and the hotel itself. Focusing on the glass atrium, designs were based on the industrial, raw textures throughout and the colours based on the interior furnishings already chosen to link in with the existing contemporary aesthetic.
