Eve Cavell BSc(Hons) Textile Design for Fashion & Interiors
Eve Cavell is a knitwear designer and illustrator. Cavell designs collections that explore the shape, structure and texture of knit, allowing for the exploration of new materials and methods; she finds inspiration in her illustrations allowing stories to be told through the abstract of knitted textile. The ‘ Willkommen’ collection is inspired by a dark illustrative story conceived by the theatrical nightmare of historical entertainment. The augmented illustrations that exist somewhere between horror and humour allow for a surreal yet recognisable twist of humanity and nightmare that has been evolved into a collection of fabrics.

Nicola Costello BSc (Hons) Textile Design for Fashion & Interiors
Nicola Costello is a Woven Textile Designer specialising in dobby and hand woven design. Embracing the challenge of creating abstract representations of imagery through texture and colour is something that is constantly evolving throughout her work. Fascinated by colour blending, texture and structural forms; the designer uses nature as the backdrop for her collection, taking inspiration from the hues and shapes of landscape features. Themed around the spirit of an Alpine winter, ‘ Les Deux Alpes’ widely explores the effects of snow on the undulating valleys and mountains. In developing and solidifying her individual design signature the designer explores the juxtaposition of both tradition and innovation in the creation of a varied developmental collection. With a strong interest in the contemporary use of woollen fibres it is important to the designer to utilise this fibre throughout her work.

Rebekah Hutchinson BA (Hons) Surface Design for Fashion and Interiors
Rebekah is a surface designer who has a strong passion for creating bespoke wall coverings full of colour, texture and pattern. She uses layering techniques and her abstract style to create beautiful, striking designs that will introduce colour and excitement to public spaces. Experimenting with different materials, Rebekah uses U.V printing to combine material and design, producing a collection of layered and textured surfaces for interiors. Endless abstraction is a collection of bespoke wall coverings, which takes inspiration from our surrounding environment. Natural textures and crumbling weathered surfaces reveal layer after layer of different marks, patterns and colours forming the main design work. Individual layering and careful placement makes each piece have it’ s own unique combination of abstract patterns blending into the surface showing the natural textures. The products are eye-catching and tactile in order to create an inviting atmosphere within their public space.

April Lyon BA (Hons) Textile Crafts
April Lyon is driven by the process of woven textiles and pushing the boudaries of weave through scale and structure, on and off the loom. Lyon creates unique woven fabrics inspired by nature and the world around us, aiming to bring this connection into the home. Lyon travelled America living out of a rucksack and living within nature. This opened her eyes to how much we, as humans, rely on our everyday objects within our homes but also how out of contact we have become with nature and the land itself. Woven Landscape is a bespoke interior collection inspired by nomadic living and traditions. Lyon allows reconnection with nature and the landscape through her woven fabrics. These connections are made through the material choices and the textures found within the cloth, which represent the colour and aesthetics of the rocky landscape of Monument Valley.

Melissa Martinson is driven by concept. Within her practice she experiments with hand constructed methods. By carrying out in-depth research, her aim is to tackle global issues whilst incorporating sustainable materials and techniques into her work. This collection, based on the A/W 16/17 OffBeat trend, aims to design handcrafted products that can be produced by HIV/AIDS sufferers in Malawi and sold in the UK Market. This will enable them to continue to earn an income once they become debilitated. This project aims to give these people not only a chance of retained independence, but also a sense of community, whereby working as a group whilst crafting the products will allow them to socialise and share experiences with fellow sufferers. Sourcing local materials, the designer incorporates these with local techniques to create sustainability.

Jessica Pool BA (Hons) Textiles with Surface Design
Pool's work is aimed at the surface and accessory design areas of textiles, as she is interested in pushing the boundaries of her craft to create one-off, unique, wearable designs. She takes a bespoke approach to commercial methods and is passionate about seeing how this can be applied and developed for industry. Prostasia’ is a fashion artefact collection influenced by natural disasters across Greek islands. The burning of maps highlights the often overlooked effects left on the surface. As fashion is one of the most influential forms of expression,‘ Prostasia’ is shaped around usually unused areas of the body to enhance the significance of hidden details, which influence and make up everything despite not always being clear. Layers of digital processes and hard materials restrict body movement to portray elements of Grecian armour. This highlights the message of protection and how it remains in tact whilst being broken down from within.

Hannah Reuter BSc(Hons) Textile Design for Fashion & Interiors
Hannah creates bold individualistic print collections for fashion and interiors that are always more than meets the eye. Combining modern techniques with traditional processes, commercial design meets artistic integrity, in a distinctly playful and beguiling style. The designer was inspired by the avant-garde artists of the Art Deco period, who pushed the boundaries of design in both decency and aesthetics. Art Decadence is a collection that channels this subversive attitude by exploring the moral and cultural decline of society. From pistols to popcorn, our excessive indulgences in pleasure and luxury are playfully narrated using the traditional artisan methods of the 20's. Quirks and irregularities of the hand-painting process are carefully preserved on the luxurious silk garments to maintain artistic integrity in a unique collection that blurs the boundaries between art and fashion.

Knitted vessels hold nature within representing the living process of decay and enables humans once again to connect with nature in an interior space. Each is hand crafted, appreciating the exquisiteness of what cannot be controlled.

Hollie Ward BA (Hons) Textile Crafts
Hollie Ward is a weaver interested in slow production methods highlighting timeless design, well-made products and longevity. For this, she focuses on using natural materials and weaves her fabric on a small scale. Ward feels it is important to highlight British production and the availability of resources we have here. Ward uses these as inspiration for producing utilitarian, functional, long lasting fabrics with a blend of contemporary and traditional values for timeless style. Inspired by small batch production highlighting timeless design and craftsmanship, ‘ Serge’ was driven by bringing the production of utilitarian, artisan selvedge denim to the UK. Ward was motivated to take denim back to its origins by weaving a collection of hard wearing fabric. In order to ensure provenance through materials, Ward used a blend of pre-consumer waste cotton and British wool sourced within the UK. The collection has been created through Ward hand weaving and using an industrial shuttle loom sourced in Huddersfield resulting in raw selvedge denim fabrics produced entirely in Yorkshire.
