Shhhhhhhh...we all need a little more quiet in our world.
So, what does this mean for our homes...when even the rooms we once considered to be our sanctuary – our bedrooms and bathrooms – have been invaded by technology? We will seek out new ‘spaces’ in which to cocoon ourselves, spaces which provide acoustic and soundproofing qualities, which are tactile and deliver peace, calm and protection from an ‘always-on’ world.
Hushed Interiors
1 in 3 Britons now admit that they are overwhelmed by being constantly connected and just want to ‘switch off’. The desire for moments of escape from the cacophony of contemporary living is growing and is bolstering the view that episodes of quiet and escapist reprieve are necessary, vital even, for fully functioning, balanced healthy lives. More, such moments are becoming imbued with premium associations. In response we can expect to see a movement away from the ‘constantly on’ towards quietness, humanness, simplicity and nature.
In a society ruled by the clock/ with stress and burnout as a result/ my aim is to create an oasis in time/
A moment of contemplation/ to awaken the senses/ and enjoy the poetics of life. ////Ingrid Hulskamp
