Project description For this project I was asked to create 3 collections all based upon a theme and trend to relate. I used Vintage for my theme as I’ve always been a fan of vintage clocks and keys, from when I researched images and went to look at clocks & vintage items in shops I learned the colours are very mundane by just having the usual brown and yellow. I decided to look for a colour trend so I could add colour into vintage to make it more interesting (mainly for me). I found the trend S/S 15 Global Colour Direction, this trend mainly covered all the colour ways and this is where I found inspiration to all colour into my sketchbook and fabrics. I first started looking into the images id collected both in person and the internet and then started incorporating these into my sketchbook, I first started by just drawing the clocks and keys to get a feel then started adding the colour into my work, I personally prefer working with colour as I feel this makes the work more interesting and you can explore more and make each collection different. I did a collection each for Womenswear, Menswear & Interiors. I’ve decided to show off my collection on Menswear Spring/Summer 14 as I feel this is my strongest; I did check & dogtooth fabrics for suiting’s for this. Techniques such as double cloth have been used in this collection to create different outcomes on fabric samples to show 2 different possible outcomes, I have also done a dogtooth range to make my collection abit broader rather than just checks. I based my collection on this as I have a background of tailoring and it is what I have a passion for most.
