Sombre Grunge Womens wear S/S 14 This direction is based on the dark and grungy colours taken from old and new textile machines.I wanted to incorporate both the shiny metal from the new and the dark rust of the old. It will consist of dark moody colours such as greys and mucky greens and the occassional added silver.Using techniques such as smudging, rough textures/expantex, rubber, smokiness and bleaching/discharge which includes the spring/summer 2015 macro trend Bio-dynamic.The trend Focus – sense of humanism, forms part of the trend also, reconstruction of parts of machines creates an almost human form, ‘resurrection’.This also comes from the macro trend industrial evolution. Re-worked photographs, including screws and nails, and raised plastisol. It will contain blurred and off straight lines with distortion as well as pixelated and fussy re-worked prints along side of large scale mark making.
‘Machines live on longer’
Re-working over photographs, using oil and sand to create texture.
Mono printing over sketches to create a worn effect.
Recontruction of the machines.
Lazor cutting to create shadowing and structure.
Layoring paintings together, with different prints. Playing with opacitiy.
Mono printing to produce interesting mark making effects.
‘X-ray’ of screws and nails layered over an edited mono-print.
Drawn segment of a machine layered and repeated, along with print designs pasted into sections.
Disperse dye transfer onto chiffon, scrunched and repeated.
Suede print through screen, similar shade to give a subtle texture. Baked in the oven rather than with a heat gun to give a smoother finish.
Discharge technique using colour, layered with white opaque.
DevorĂŠ on corduroy baked for rather then burn out effect. recommended time to burn effect
less then recommended to give an engrave Sample two, DevorĂŠ baked for longer than completly through fabric for a ripped throughout fabric.
Bleach left on for certain times to create different shades. Pigment and suede foam layered.
Experimenting with the different outcomes of using discharge to bleach, bleach leaves a halo around the print.
Edited mono-print, printing by sublimation heat transfer with added white opaque paste.
Almost ‘camo’ effect with the green pigment prints layered by white opaqe paste. Added disperse dye with a pippette.
