A highly creative design collection for kids interiors.

YOUNG DENIM
Young Denim was a project inspired by memories of childhood.. Denim can be seen as a 2nd skin for kids and therefore that is precisely what I believe it to be, allowing kids to be kids, play rough, laugh hard and have fun whilst being protected. The concept behind this collection was based on peace and war. Simplified and categorised into this colour palette, main brick and poppy design focus that can be seen to express this meaning of a new generation and the hope that comes with them. It also symbolise nature winning over our built-up foundations and factories. The balance in which nature is surviving and the contracts that which our man-made structures are falling. Poppies already have a meaning and this simply adds hope, that which we have for our future generations. The designs within this collection tells a subtle story that children should be what nature plays them out to be which is children that runs wild and play free. To not have them be what society wants and be part of this overrun fashionable era and where all brand names to make a statement. Young denim is a simple but creative and appealing design that has its features in subtle locations carrying a thoughtful meaning of hope.
Expantex and green pigment colour
This brick design was inspired by the irregular bricks used to make the walls lining the edges of farms and field of Yorkshire.
The colours are grey with a mixture of green to highlight the natural changes that occurs, causing moss to grow . This rich colour and texture added to the brick creates this artistic ‘painting’ view.
The shape of these bricks are those most commonly used around the world and therefore this was the main design that was used within this collection.
Blue and red brick used in this design are to create a realistic interpretation of the bricks used around the world and the two main colours they take.
3D Medium or expantex and red / blue pigment colour
The poppies that my collection featured were long in its stem and mostly metallic to highlight the winning/survival over built up foundations that are the man-made bricks.
Embroidery was done on some sample pieces to add texture and create something more suitable to the kids market with this handmade feel.
Gold Foiling

Another design was this flower collage that was more cloistered featuring flower buds symbolising growth and new life.
This creation was done on discharge fabric to test how the designs would appear on a more soft fabric. As can be seen the colours are richer and clear creating a more colourful and childlike pattern.
Further Development Within my sketchbook colourations were different and more dark therefore if there was a chance to develop these designs further I would try to achieve such initial colours within my prints and on denim.
Initial sketchbook Drawings and colourations done prior to final designs.
Such colours are what I wanted to achieve but the paler colourations that came through on the actual denims were more desirable and therefore was kept.
These designs were created to emphasis the nature aspect within the meaning behind my collections. The designs above was not successful within my collection done on denim therefore for the future I would love to experiment further to achieve such textured and intricate design shapes.
Product
Rustic design using the same design features within this collection but this design mainly focuses on the handdrawn brick concept.
This design is what I would like to portray on denim products and how it works. A simple but effective design that stands alone.
Dream, Our, Your, My Wonderland This collection was inspired by something simple as candy colours but as simple as it is- fun and creative enough to fuel design creations. This collection has a Alice in Wonderland ambiance about it but it was created for Japanese Street Fashion. It features bunny ears, trees, pocket watches, tea pots, bird cages, keys and fashion images etc. These designs are crazy and random combinations that which can be seen in fashion on Harajuku street in Japan.
Short Collection Preview A small collection of designs achieved using a combination of techniques
A digital print with a blank discharge technique applied of a birdcage onto the surface of this cotton stain fabric to add dimension to the design.
The designs I have placed into this simple white cotton jumper to emphasise that it can be commonly used for everyday occasions.

Life Around The World Inspired by everything around us, the idea that everything as it is and as we see it is life; in the form of our personality.
You're world The idea of our individual world's consisting of two sections separated by our sexes and revealing life in the 'Woman's World' and 'Man's World'. This is our personal world in which we live and feel most comfortable being ourselves.
Our World This is basically life around us, that which we see everyday. The busy time oriented, business, academic, and social life that we all live and unconsciously interlock. The self-obsessed, superficial and material world that which we love so much and has become our norm.
Nature's World The world in which we rarely observe when engaged in 'our world' that is right beside us. The wonderful nature in which is no longer so wonderful when compared to the busy 'our world' but what is calming when in 'you're world'. This is basically the landscape in which we share 'our world' with, being the alpha race and consuming what we believe mostly is all ours for the taking.
All the designs within this collection were hand drawn and painted using CAD. The designs are all colourful, unique and specific to the meaning behind them.
A colour variations for this design simply emphasises the global and cultural theme.
More designs to go with this small collections women’s world and our world.
Here are just some of the designs within clothing to give a clear image of how they would appear and precisely where I would like them to be within garments.

Sponsored Project By: Turner Bianca This sponsored interior project was inspired by a combination of two theme boards presented by Turner Bianca’s company’s 2011 collection called Global and Chinoiserie. But my main inspiration came from Kandinsky’s art which were very modern for his time. Today his designs are more normal however very abstract and intriguing. Another main focus point of my designs was inspired by an art piece I found from an online community dedicated to ‘Japanese art’ more specifically ‘anime’. This site was called ‘Minitokyo’ and the artist refers to themselves as ‘snyp’.The designs within this piece that was very inspirational to me was located in her legs and that in the background; combined with Kandinsky’s inspirational work created something truly interesting. The inspiration for my cartoon characters came from my own imagination and passion for kids designs with an oriental kick. The doll like designs that can be seen within my work all vary in colour tones and hair shapes to created texture and be as realistic as can be. This also follows the global cultures theme presented in the brief.
