Portuguese and Moroccan Tiles Project Statement Pam’s Portuguese and Moroccan Tiles project is all about creating a new and bespoke wall decor for bars. Inspired by Portuguese and Moroccan, Pam has produced an exciting collection of designs. Colours incorporated include blues, and gold. Blue worked well as a colour choice for Portuguese Tiles as it is the most popular colour used on Portuguese/ Moroccan tiles. Gold is a warm, inviting rich colour and market research indicated it to be a popular colour in bars, making this a strong colour choice too. Wall hangings became the choice of final end product as they are more popular than wallpaper in Morocco and Ibiria. This is because traditionally it was more cost effective to make intricate designs and also in hot climates such as the South Mediterranean white-wash walls and wall hangings offer a cooler atmosphere. This tradition is replicated in Portuguese and Moroccan style bars around the world despite the climate. Furthermore wallpaper has retained its popularity whereas wall hangings are a less favoured choice so exploring this niche market opens up commercial aspects as there are far less competitors within the wall hanging industry. These designs are created with hand drawing being the prominent method as well as digital fabric printing and Adobe Photoshop.

Aztec Project Statement Aztec and Tribal is all about exploring old Aztec and Tribal designs to inspire unique patterns for bedding. A variety of printing methods have been tested .e.g. Printing with potatoes, in order to create different textures and effects. Pam has created traditional Aztec designs with bold and vivid colours creating a contemporary style inspired by past designs. Her colour palette includes Oranges, Blues, Grey, White and Olive green because they are similar to what the Aztecs used. Additionally, she selected her colours from an upcoming trend, Geometric Mash-Up. Market Pam’s market area is bedding throws. She originally focused on duvet covers but after consideration of material choices and commercialism she chose throws/blankets. The materials sourced were more suited to throws as they were thicker quality e.g. Acrylic, and Pam’s designs are energetic and bold. Her buyer would be a young adult predominantly women who likes fun, quirky, and exciting patterns. They would be priced between £20 - £35 and be sold in Asda, Primark and Tesco.

Sea Creatures Project Statement Sea Creatures is all about exploring creature textures, Pam became inspired by visiting sea life centres and photographing a variety of sea creatures. Pam concentrated on the textures and marks produced on sea creatures bodies. Her colour palette never really formed as it is hard to depict a selection of colours to use when each sea creature contains a huge variety of colours. She selected the most popular and strongest colours within sea creatures for my colour palette. This projects three main focuses are colour, texture, and digital drawing. Pam wanted to use this project as an opportunity to improve her Photoshop drawing skills as she felt that they could be improved. Another reason for digital drawing was it made this project different from her other two, which are more material and hand drawing based. Market Pam’s market area is modern lampshades as she has never explored lampshades as an end product for one of her projects and she wanted to try something new. Her lampshades would have digitally printed patterns on them and be modern with a current and contemporary edge. They would be priced between £15 - £30 and be sold in Habitat and John Lewis. Pam’s clients would be adult women/men whom likes modern and retro interior. The lamp shade would be for ceiling lights to create a warm, modern and beautiful home interior. The dimensions of the lamp shade drum would be 30cm diameter and 20cm high as this is a popular style for lamp shade drums within Pam’s chosen market area.
