Aiding Independence Designing Sustainability The for the way
inspiration for this project came from my passion world development and acknowledging the fact that UN Millennium Development Goals still have a long to go to be met by the end of 2015. Focusing on
‘Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other diseases’ I wanted goal number 6:
to see how my textile skills could help towards meeting these targets. This project is about helping people living with HIV/ AIDS, particularly in Malawi, to achieve a better
hand crafting
lifestyle. Using my skills such as knit, weave, macramé and perhaps incorporating smart materials, I aim to create a product which can be taught to HIV/AIDS positive patients in Malawi for them to make in social community groups and at
community project will help friendships, as they mix with others
home. This
create in the same situation, bringing a sense of community and tackling stigma. It will also allow them to
