BERLIN

BERLIN Berlin is my most recent project to date. I was inspired by a recent trip to berlin where I discovered the street art on the berlin wall. the rough yet beautiful, distorted and meaningful imagery captured me.
The samples produced are designed for artistic wall pieces. I explored the use of different materials within the weaves such as plastics and metals. Using different techniques that I had previously not used within my work such as melting the samples and moulding them to create 3D shapes and distortion within them.
The samples reflect the distortion of how the berlin wall, something so distorted and horrificly used can be turned into something now so artistic and eye catching with the use of simple and meaningful art.
Distortion This piece is reflecting upon the distortion of the walls art work and beauty. Using spray paint I sprayed on street art alongside Using monofilament for warp and weft within the weave I was able to melt and distort it.
Barbed wire This sample represents the barbed wire that was on top of the wall during the war. Stopping any of the suffering Germans from getting through. Using spray paint I sprayed on street art alongside Using monofilament Metal within the weave I was able to mould and distort it.
