Floral Geometric Look Book.
Floral Geometric My Outcome for a project called Inspire... The project given to us at the begininng of the year was titled ‘Inspire’ to rightly so, inspire us and give us creative energy to kick start our final year. I began this project when asked to attend a sponsored competition at the annual Flooring Show in Harrogate. The project was sponsored with a prize for the designer who could create a collection of exciting flooring designs based of one of two trends provided by the trend forcasting company Scarlet Opus. Using their trend ‘DISplaced’ as a starting point, my aesthetic developed into a combination of soft florals with edgy geometric lines and shapes. A focus on the scale of my work was also an interesting dimension I was experimenting with to enforce the notion that my designs were intended to be interior artwork that was bespoke and a focal point for a domestic or commerical space. The designs I created lead me to winning the competition sponsored by The British Ceramic Tile Company, and the comments from their company development manager- Mark Rigby, pushed me forward to continuing the project and developing the collection you see in this Look Book. The aesthetic of my collection fuses traditional floral imagery with edgy modern geometric lines and shapes to create a contemporaty take on two very solid interior trends. I wanted to create a diverse and fresh pallete across my collection given each design its own identity and translating the design work into interior wall or floor art. To achieve this I have experiemented with different drawing, printing and digital techniques to make each design unique however the theme is still consistent throughout the collection. Enjoy! “Briony Ramsdens designs stood out for her fusion of Floral and Geomtric elements, clever use of scale, repeating pattern and her interpretation of colour, combing both elements of the trend brief and making them her own... Her presentation skills were also second to none. Briony has a very bright future ahead as a designer. -Rigby, M. (2014)
