Project statement My project is heavily influenced by the 1960s mod era. Heavily based around the monochrome elements of this era, with pops of bold colour running through. With bold jaquards and multiple knit techniques, mainly being influenced by geometric shapes and designs it is a creative, technical and overall fun project. My project has 3 pathways: Maxi, Mini, and Structure. I have chosen to present my Mini collection as I feel it is the strongest. Influenced by optical illusions, and microscopic patterns, my project is a true nod at the 1960s Mainly having a mini jaquard running through, I have used different knit techniques and multiple colours to create a playful yet wearable collection. My chosen brand I have designed for is Topshop, as a brand they are known for their fun, creative designs that are wearable and fashionable. I feel my designs would sit well in their shops and would be worn by their customers. Taking vintage shapes of garments, I have made my designs modern and fun, but still in keeping with a vintage feel to my designs. My chosen season is AW 14/15, with a mainly monochrome palette and pops of colour, the geometric designs of my project would fit in with the seasons upcoming trends, that could be taken into a wardrobe for seasons yet to come. Overall my project is a fun, creative and bold statement, that could be worn by many ages, being versatile yet fashionable, that is modern yet classic.
