Layered Flowers
Project Description ‘Layered flowers’ was a project based on layering different techniques using flowers as the main imagery. Previous students who had experimented with different techniques and materials within there own work inspired the project. The idea was to create different designs for different materials that could be used for different areas with the home. The material would then bring the design alive. The materials used were paper, wood, tiles, cardboard and fabric. The flowers were exotic and traditional, which would lift the design however the flowers were more from imagination and not directly copied so they were not visually correct. The flowers in the design were used to soften and enlighten the bold colours that were used in each design. There were many different method and techniques that were experimented, however the main techniques that were used were stitch, screen print using dispersed and pigment dyes, heat transfer and drawing using biro and watercolour.
