Aurora From the depths of the ocean to the far away solar systems in space, the unknown is what drives this trend forward. With mysterious creatures from deep in the ocean that glow in the darkness like a carnival of colours, as humans we believe we know our surroundings well but we thrive to know more about what is around us, we want to venture deeper and further into the unfamiliar worlds around us. From iridescent scales that cast light onto the dark backdrop of the sea, the idea of the unknown is what makes this trend so exciting. Toxic colours give an edgy feel but are hidden away to give a sense of the unknown, as we are still yet to uncover the true scale of these never before seen worlds. We take inspiration from the textures and colours of these alien like species, fabrics become more tactile and colours resemble the neon toxic glows of the mysterious underwater world.
Mood Underwater creatures play a huge roll in fashion products, strange shapes and forms give interest to garments. Bubble-like forms give a soft and textural look, crystal rocks influence deep rich colours. Bright tones stand out against the dark backdrop of the ocean, giving a sense of depth. Textures are influenced by the shapes and forms of the alien like creatures of the deep.

Styling The key elements to take away from this trend is the aspect of the unknown. Bright and patterns are hidden away under darker, thicker fabrics to display only a small area of the patterns underneath. Layering is key - with only small sections of prints being on display, relating to new creatures only just being discovered. Layers of sheer fabrics give extra depth, resembling the depths of the ocean. Long floaty garments are a statement piece with fabric draping down to give a sense of movement like when underwater, three-quarter length skirts are partly transparent giving a futuristic vibe. Materials have a space feel with iridescent tones taking centre stage to give an out of this world look that is both elegant and edgy. chunky knits are updated and have more character with iridescent beetle like tones that reflect light. Hidden embellishment - sequins are hidden between knitted fabrics and embellished collars are a statement piece, as well as scale like patterns giving extra texture and interest.
