The power of an exterior location to engulf a person’s presence is so diverse dependent on the particular surrounding. “Exterior Interior” acknowledges the shapes, patterns, colours and textures seen within contrasting exterior environments to create reflective interior collections. “Woodland Forest” emphasises the organic natural structures seen within Yosemite National Park. A combination of drawing, photography and mixed media sketches formed the basis towards a fine gauge knitted lighting collection. In order for fabrics to echo the forestry environment accurately it was important that its organic nature was evident throughout. Fine natural cotton was predominantly used to create intricate shaped structures that would reflect the fragile movement of the overlaying woodland imagery. As a lighting piece the detailed open structures ephasise the organic texture through natural shadowing.

“Nautical Textures accentuates the natural rugged textures seen within coastal locations. Strong rough surfaces combined with intricate weathered details prompt interior fabrics with substance and individuality. The overwhelming raw movements of the ocean inspire chunky yarn qualities to reflect organic, powerful image with seating suitability.
