ynthetic Reality welcomes the idea of an alternate future, where landscapes are a saturated view of the past.
An influx of space tourism has generated thoughts of new frontiers and the colonisation of new worlds. These fashion fabrics take inspiration from this by creating surreal landscapes with over saturated tones of cyan, magenta and purple. Depth and shadow is created by layering structural laser cut fabrics and digital prints with flock and foil detailing. Familiar imagery is shown Unfamiliar way creating a mysticism and intrigue.

he starting idea for this collection was to combine digital printing and laser cutting to create highly detailed and intricate fashion fabrics. Initially these were intended to be both designed and created digitally- the appearence of an absence of human input was an important factor I wanted to maintain throughout the collection. As a result of this the fabrics become more structural and the cuts work with the prints to create interesting visuals. The addition of flock and foil simply adds to the interesting nature of these fabricsthe tactacity of the cloth is increased with the texture of the flock. Foiled areas add a futuristic sheen contrasted by the intense colouration flock.

he choice of fabrics this project was highly important and has great significance both in terms of the trend and also in creating a contrast between synthetic and natural.

Natural fabrics such as silk and leather have been contrasted against polyesters and nylons, to create a fusion of materials- this is a nod to the collections concept of mixing the natural with a futuristic reality. Tactacity and drape were also deciding factors in my choice of fabrics- there had to be a sense of luxury in whatever fabric. This contraasts against the synthetic feel of the polyester and nylon.
