Hidden Wonders

he concept of ‘Hidden Wonders’ is an inspiration of being lost in a mystical fairy tale. It is a collection of many transition wallpaper designs, which has aspects of many overlapping shadows, and includes layers upon layers of deep rich tones which has been complimented with a soft subtle colour. Variations of flowers some full of life and some naturally changing to becoming lifeless. It draws on the natural environment combined with the fantasy of the mind. The mirror influence came from the traditional fairy tale story ‘Snow White – Mirror Mirror on the Wall’. This idea was not used in the traditional manner, as it needed the mystical twist of the mind being reflected into the mirror.

here are seven shades of colours known as Secret Veil, Eternal Dream, Moonlight Whisper, Murky Shadows, Dark Forest, Dangerous Obsession, and Deep Temptation. The initial red, wine, green and dark grey palettes were selected due to the dangerous factors of being alone deep in a forest not knowing what’s around the corner. The subtle colours of the pale grey, cream and dusky pink were chosen for the calmness of the mind and finding something pleasant and surreal. It allows the viewer to daydream and be drawn into the many layers of the subtle and deep dark murky tones. The two concepts brought together compliment one another as they are used in the simplest format. Aspects of each the danger and calmness were drawn together to create an overlap, using different focal points. The mirrors were used in two areas one was used as a whole mirror reflecting on the surreal. The other was used to look closer in detail, at the ornate design of being entangled and captured within the mirror. Using this concept, it allowed the story to develop into being trapped behind layers. By using the clever use of imagery, it enabled transforming the impossible to possible, which translates the mind being reflected into the mirror rather than seeing a reflection of the realistic real world.
