Overview As we become more and more consumed by social media, the bombardment of perfectly contrived and filtered images lead us to make a shift back to real and unfiltered lives. In 2017, we turn off the technology and enrich our lives with the perfectly imperfect nature of real life, reconnecting with the things that matter the most.

Nature
As we look up from our screens, our eyes are opened to real beauty that the earth has to offer. As consumers, we become more grounded and not only embrace nature into our homes, but also become increasingly aware of the impact our purchasing habits have on the planet. This shift leads us to embrace all things natural and move away from synthetic surfaces and materials.
Reconnect with
family In recent years, the perfect orchestration of editing, retouching and deleting our conversations online has resulted in us feeling more disconnected than ever. In an unfiltered reality, we reclaim spaces in the home where we can nurture and deepen our real life relationships, enriching lives with the imperfect but heart-warming nature of real interactions. The kitchen in particular becomes a sacred space to reconnect as we re-embrace the notion of family dining and buy into products that allow spaces to be enjoyed together.

The Self As social media encourages us to perfectly filter ourselves and our lives online, we take a step back and realise the importance of working on our true selves. In 2017, we reconnect with ourselves in order to become fully present in our lives and in our interactions with others. Bedrooms become sanctuaries were we can digitally detox and take time away from technology in comfortable and mindful solitude.
ColouR Direction Influenced by the tones of nature, the colour direction for Spring/ Summer 2017 enriches the home with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Being a natural source of colour, Indigo blues are essential to the 2017 colour palette. Brick red and burnt orange bring warmth to the palette and hints of ochre yellow bring a fresh and optimistic feel.

Print and pattern ‘Unfiltered’ embraces imperfections and welcomes a cultural clash of print and pattern. Main inspirations come from bohemian mandalas, imperfect tribal geometrics and traditional African patterns. Prints from across the world are layered together to form a warm and eclectic aesthetic.
Surface and materials ‘Unfiltered’ moves away from the cold structural form of technological devices and back to natural and tactile materials. Cotton and wool take place as key fabrics and materials are naturally dyed where possible. Raw and unfinished wood become an essential to the home from table-tops to wall décor, and rustic copper is embraced alongside an eclectic mix of metals. Woven and knotted surfaces are also an essential in 2017, from basket weave planters to decorative macramé; these surfaces bring elements of hand craft to the home. Overall, decorative trims, textural rugs and the layering of tactile fabrics create a homely and inviting environment.
