A positive and caring learning community

Welcome to Tudor Grange Primary Academy Haselor Dear Parents or Guardians, We would like to offer you a warm welcome to Tudor Grange Primary Academy Haselor and look forward to the beginning of a positive partnership between the academy and your family. Haselor joined the Tudor Grange Academies Trust in January 2014. As modelled throughout the Trust, we strive for excellence in all we do, ensuring that we meet the differing needs of children in our care. Tudor Grange Primary Academy Haselor aims to provide a safe and happy environment which allows every child the opportunity to fulfill their potential and make a valuable contribution to the academy and the wider community. We encourage prospective parents to visit the academy and look forward to welcoming you into our school. Yours sincerely, Mrs P. Neale - Head of School

The Curriculum A high priority is placed on teaching the core elements of the curriculum-English, Mathematics, and Science. This is very structured and all pupils study the core subjects at the same time. The foundation curriculum is taught thematically where pupils experience a stimulating and enjoyable curriculum enhanced by trips and visits. The partnership with Tudor Grange Academies Trust enables specialists to deliver specific elements of the curriculum as well as taking the lead in other foundation subjects such as computing. The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum enables children to learn skills, acquire new knowledge and demonstrate their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development – all of which are inter-dependent. The Statutory Framework identifies three ‘prime’ areas that are particularly essential for ‘igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning’ and ‘for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive’; they are: Communication and Language Development, Physical Development, and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s continued healthy development and future learning. As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in the other four ‘specific’ areas of learning and development. These are: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design. Children in the EYFS learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.

Enrichment Activities There are a wide range of enrichment activities for all pupils to participate in. A programme of events is published on a termly basis and includes; art class, singing and dance class and seasonal sports clubs.

Healthy School We encourage pupils to appreciate the benefits of exercise and a healthy lifestyle. The pupils enjoy a balanced programme of sporting activities including rugby, football, cricket, athletics, gymnastics, dance and swimming. Cycling proficiency is delivered to pupils in years 5 and 6 and we encourage all pupils to participate. All pupils have the opportunity to participate in Forest School learning at the dedicated forest school site and develop key skills such as independence, team building and problem solving. Freshly cooked meals are prepared and cooked on site in the school kitchen. The Executive Catering Manager organises and oversees the quality of meals, ensuring that children are offered a balanced and healthy diet and a half termly menu is posted to all parents.

Home School Communication It is important that your child is happy at school. If you have any concerns you can contact the school at any time during the school day. The Head of School will try to see parents immediately if there is an urgent concern, or an appointment can be made between 1.00pm and 3.00pm on Tuesdays. The academy will provide you with general information through a fortnightly newsletter, parental letters and through published information on the school website. The website can be found at www.haselor.tgacademy.org.uk

The Local Community The accessibility of the academy allows the pupils the opportunity to explore their local community. Harvest Festival and Easter service are celebrated at Haselor Church. Other visits to Stratford, Warwick and Birmingham support a hands on approach to learning.
