Prospectus 2012 - 13 Tudor Grange Academy Solihull
Welcome to Tudor Grange Academy Dear Parent or Guardian Thank you for the interest you have shown in Tudor Grange Academy as you prepare to make important decisions about your child’s secondary education. We are very proud of our Academy and I personally regard it as a real privilege to serve the school as Executive Principal. Tudor Grange has an excellent national reputation for its academic achievement and was graded outstanding by Ofsted in December 2008. For the past five years we have achieved 100% 5 A*- C. 94% of the class of 2012 achieved 5A* - C including Maths and English; a fantastic achievement. We place a high priority on good behaviour and high standards while at the same time caring about individuals and their achievements. We are an academy that has a strong commitment to traditional values. We have a positive attitude to continuous improvement and development and we aspire to become a truly world class school. We were selected as one of the first hundred National Teaching Schools and we are a National Support School. We are also the sponsor of Tudor Grange Academy in Worcester and a provider of Initial Teacher Training. We believe we can offer a high quality education experience to every child who chooses to attend the academy. Yours sincerely Mrs. J A Bexon-Smith Executive Principal
Mission Statement The mission of Tudor Grange Academy is to prepare young people to play an active part in a technologically mature society by providing them with the exceptionally high level skills, qualifications and attitudes that will benefit themselves and the wider community in an internationally competitive world. Tudor Grange is an over-subscribed and popular academy with a national reputation for excellence. Our aim is to become a World Class Academy.
What OFSTED said “This is an outstanding school. The ethos for learning is excellent and students say they enjoy coming to school because of all it offers, both in lessons and beyond. Their behaviour is excellent and attendance is high.” “Leadership and management are outstanding. The headteacher and senior leadership team provide excellent direction and work tirelessly to ensure that the school’s vision drives the school forward with improvement constantly in mind.” “Tudor Grange helps its pupils to think about themselves as individuals and about their own values and attitudes.” A parent commented to inspectors that ‘Tudor Grange is an excellent foundation for life after school and teaches the pupils correct values and respect for themselves and each other’.
College Structure Children are allocated to a college when they enter Tudor Grange and remain within that College throughout their academy career. All aspects of support for academic progress and pastoral care take place within the College. The choice of College does not imply that a child has a particular aptitude or interest in that area. All children have access to the same curriculum provision, choices and school facilities irrespective of College. Tutor groups are mixed ages, with 3-4 pupils from each year allocated to each. The ‘family grouping’ provides opportunities for pupils to learn about leadership and responsibility and take and active role in supporting and encouraging other pupils. It also provides pupils with a much broader knowledge and understanding of all aspects of academy life. Tutor Groups have approximately 21 pupils allowing each Tutor to really get to know their tutees.
“The Academy makes extensive and innovative use of information technology to simulate and inspire the pupils”.
