WELCOME TO THE NEXT LEVEL
T Levels are a brand new qualification, developed to deliver world-class technical education to young people following their GCSEs. They are a two-year course, designed to give you a head start towards your future career.
T Levels are high-quality technical courses, designed with employers, to give young people the skills that industries need, and for them to thrive in the workplace.
They are two-year courses, equivalent to 3 A Levels, that can be studied following GCSEs.
T Levels focus on vocational skills providing technical knowledge and practical skills specific to a learner’s chosen industry or occupation. On completion, students receive a nationally recognised qualification and will be prepared for their future progression routes, that include skilled employment, Higher Level Apprenticeships, or higher education.
The Henley College began offering T Levels in 2022, with T Level Health. From September 2023, the College will offer a further three T Level qualifications in:
● T Level Business Management and Administration
● Digital Support Services (Computer Networking and Cybersecurity)
● Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing
T Level Business Management And Administration
The Business and Administration T Level focuses on Business Management, Leadership and Administration Support. In year 1, you will study core business knowledge and work on a project set by an employer. You will work collaboratively with other students, problem solve, and undertake research. You will also begin your industrial placement that will continue into year 2, where you will specialise in Business Support and Leadership.
T Level Design And Development For Engineering And Manufacturing
During this two-year course, students will develop a range of skills and core knowledge in engineering and manufacturing. This will include essential mathematics, materials and their properties, commercial principles and working within the engineering and manufacturing sector. You will be able to specialise in mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, control and instrumentation engineering or structural engineering.
DIGITAL SUPPORT SERVICES (COMPUTER NETWORKING AND CYBERSECURITY)
This T Level will give you the industry knowledge and skills required to understand IT support, cybersecurity, interactive and digital products. During the two years, you will undertake an industry placement, with the opportunity to work with experts in the IT industry.
This course is suitable for anyone wanting a career in Digital infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity and support.
The final qualification will enable you to progress into a career in the digital sector.
T Level Health
T Level Health is a two-year course, designed to give you a knowledge and understanding of concepts, theories and principles relevant to the Health and Science sector. Through the qualification, you will develop professional competencies, and gain core knowledge and skills that are required for entry into a range of healthcare and science occupations. In addition to the core content, students will specialise in a range of health team support roles, which may include adult nursing, midwifery, children's therapeutic care or mental health.
Equivalent To 3 A Levels
T Levels are an alternative to A Levels, apprenticeships and other 16 to 19 courses. Equivalent in size to 3 A Levels, a T Level focuses on vocational skills and can help students into skilled employment, higher education, or apprenticeships.
Industry Placements
Industry placements are a valuable opportunity to put your learning into practice and develop technical skills relevant to your vocational course.
They will enable you to finish your programme of study with the skills, knowledge and expertise that employers are seeking. At Henley, we have relationships with a broad range of employers and we’ll help you in finding the right placement. Our initial T Level Health has placements agreed with the Royal Berkshire Foundation
45-DAY INDUSTRY PLACEMENT
Each T Level includes an in-depth industry placement that lasts at least 45 days over 2 years. Students get valuable experience in the workplace; employers get early sight of the new talent in their industry.
80% CLASSROOM, 20% WORK
T Level students spend 80% of the course in their learning environment, gaining the skills that employers need. The other 20% is a meaningful industry placement, where they put these skills into action.
NHS Trust offering students valuable experience in a clinical setting. We then visit our students in the workplace to support and monitor their progress. When looking for a placement, the main thing is to keep an open mind. You might have your heart set on working for a particular company, but it’s equally important to land the right role that will offer the best experience. We have a dedicated Industry Placement Coordinator who is available to give advice and guidance to students following this route.
