ompey Pedals is an inclusive cycling project P from Pompey in the Community (PitC), which has been relaunched following the change in
Tuesdays and Thursdays (9.15am-3.30pm). The sessions are run by a group of loyal and dedicated volunteers, alongside a main project lead who represents the charity. Some of the volunteers have undergone bike maintenance training, ensuring they can keep the equipment in good working order.

The aim is to engage adults and children with disabilities and differing needs in a quality activity that is socially, physically and mentally stimulating.
Most people who take part cycle around the parks, but a few will venture a little further afield, perhaps onto the coastal path towards Hilsea Lido or down towards Southsea seafront. Many come along with their families or carers, who can join in either on a separate bike or one of our twin machines.
It enables mixed groups and families to share the experience of cycling together, using regular and specially adapted bikes and equipment – and unlike most other schemes, PitC’s is free for all users. The project has been running successfully for the past four years and was formerly known as ‘WheelsForAll’, but has now returned with funding from the Places to Ride fund from British Cycling and the Return to Play fund from Sport England.
There is no need to book to use the bikes – just turn up and get pedalling! More volunteers are particularly needed for sessions at Bransbury Park on Mondays and Fridays.
