The YMCA conducts regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants, and guests. If a sex offender match occurs, the YMCA will cancel membership, end program participation, and remove visitation access. All visiting individuals 18 and over must provide a government issued photo ID upon entry to any of our YMCA facilities, programs or services.

MEMBERSHIP The Gateway Family YMCA is here for the community by making sure everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. We are joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. We develop youth by giving kids the opportunity to discover who they are and nuturing their potential. We do this through supporting youth in cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement.

MONTHLY MEMBER SOCIALS Meet fellow members & YMCA staff, while learning about upcoming events and programs that are happening at the branch and within the entire association. We will meet on the second floor on the following Thursdays • September 19th • October 17th • November 21st • December 19th

We promote healthy living by guiding individuals to develop their personal health and well-being journey while providing encouragement and support to reach their goals. We are here to provide the community with the resources needed to address the most pressing social issues. By bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together we can provide support for people and families and promote positive change overall.

MEMBERSHIP FULL MEMBERSHIP Full Members over 20 will benefit from our entire member experience by having full use of the facility. Full members are entitled to advance registration and reduced fees for specialty classes.

YOUTH AND TEEN FULL MEMBERS Will benefit from an array of activities, programs, recreational activities (branch specific), and membership benefits of early registration. Full access to the facility is based on availability and subject to varied scheduled times. Youth 12 and under must be under direct supervision and may not be left unattended at any time, including on the pool deck. Enjoy the benefits of membership at all 4 of our locations-Elizabeth, Rahway, and 2 locations in Union. BASIC/PROGRAM MEMBERS An annual program membership entitles members to register for programs, child care and summer camp at program rates. In order to benefit from all the Y has to offer a Full Membership is required. All membership fees are non-refundable.

7TH GRADE INITIATIVE

JOINER’S FEE Each membership category has a Joiner’s Fee (applicable on all new memberships and memberships that have expired for more than 30 days) which supports our financial assistance program and facility improvements. The fee is non-refundable or transferable.

PAYMENT OPTIONS PAYMENT IN FULL Members may opt to pay in full for an entire year of membership. * Please note that memberships set to expire during a program session must be renewed before class registration may occur.

MONTHLY DRAFT PAYMENT A membership can be paid monthly using our monthly draft payment plan. Monthly payment is deducted from the member’s bank account or credit card on the 5th of each month. Membership is continuous each month unless the member requests a cancellation in writing for the draft to discontinue. 30 days notice is required.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES When you volunteer at the Y, you provide leadership and talent vital to empowering people and communities to learn, grow and thrive. The Y is a nonprofit like no other. Take an active role in strengthening your community by being a program volunteer, board member, Annual Campaign fundraiser or event volunteer. BE OUR GUEST: GUEST POLICY AND FEES Members are welcome to bring a guest to our Y. Guests must be accompanied by a member, complete a guest waiver and pay appropriate fee. Members may bring up to (2) guests per visit. The YMCA conducts regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants, and guests. All visiting individuals 18 and over must provide a government issued photo ID upon entry to any of our YMCA facilities, programs or services. Guests under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian complete a guest waiver. Previous members visiting as guests with outstanding balances must settle the balance before using the facility as a guest.

CREDIT/VOUCHER POLICY A credit only will be offered for a program or membership due to an extended illness or emergency. Credit requests must be in writing. A doctor’s note is required along with the request. Credits which are issued will expire at the end of one year. Refunds cannot be given for programs or membership. All credit requests will be subject to a $10 processing fee.

KEEPING KIDS SAFE AND SECURE - YOUTH POLICY Youth under the age of 12 must be under direct adult supervision when using the YMCA and must not be left unattended at any time. Youth wearing or requiring a flotation deivce in the pool must be accompanied by an adult or paid guests within arms reach at all times. Age 10-11 must complete wellness center orientation before being able to use the facility. Members aged 10-11 are limited to only the cardio machines and must have adult supervision (18 or older). Youth Orientations will be held on Saturdays at 9-10 AM and must be registered. Contact Paul Baytan, Health & Wellness and Youth Sports Director for details and to schedule a Youth Orientation.

LOCKER ROOMS Lockers are for daily use only. Please bring your belongings and remove each day as items left overnight may be discarded. The Gateway Family YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

EMERGENCY DRILLS For the safety of our members, the YMCA conducts periodical emergency drills. Your cooperation is expected and appreciated.

FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT DEVELOPING FUTURE LEADERS The Y supports youth in the growth of positive character attributes through the development of strong relationships within programs that sustain both academic and the physical development of all youth in order to enhance lifelong health and well being in a welcoming and engaging environment.

BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM The Before and After School Programs are offered at the following schools in Rahway: Cleveland, Franklin, Madison and Roosevelt Elementary Schools and the 7th & 8th Grade Academy for Pre-K students. All Schools operate Before School at 7:00 AM until the school day begins. After School Program starts at school dismissal and ends at 6:30 PM. On scheduled early dismissal days, the Y Staff will begin the After School Program at the early dismissal time and operate the program until 6:30 PM.

2019-2020 REGISTRATION INFORMATION A one-time $25 registration fee is required for first time registrants to our program. All children will be required to provide a deposit upon registration. A $50 deposit will be required at the time of registration and held until the child's last month of the program. The deposit will be utilized towards thier final child care statement. Children registering after 8/31/19 will also be required to pay for the first month of tuition upon registration. Membership is required to participate in school aged child care programs. Registrations submitted after 6/30/19 must purchase a membership.

Vacation Camp Bring your kids to the Y during scheduled days off from school for a fun-filled day at vacation camp! The Y understands that just becasue the kids have off does not mean that parents do too! The Rahway Branch offers high quality care in which children can swim participate in arts and crafts, CATCH, sports and play with their friends! Withdrawal Policy Written notification or email of withdrawal from the program must be submitted 30 days prior to the participants final date of care. Written notification must be submitted to the School Aged Child Care Director, Cadene Fredankle. Families registering for the SACC program must complete a registration packet for the 2019-2020 school year. The completed packet must be returned with payment.

FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT We impact our community by nurturing and developing healthy habits in children through supportive staff who assist children in reaching their full potential through experiences and learning in a caring, honest, respectful and responsible atmosphere. Learning together, playing together, becoming part of a family that supports fun, friendship and endless possibilities.

7th Grade Leader’s Club

Join us as we focus on team building, personal growth, character development, service and volunteerism in our 7th Grade Leader’s Club. FAMILY PROGRAMMING FAMILY YOGA Beginner Family Yoga Family yoga is a peaceful way to move together mindfully. Class begins with thoughtfully tuning in, followed by playful and meditative practices that include posture, partner poses and grow poses. Saturday:

Ages 6-18 months This is your first opportunity to expose your infant or toddler to the wonderful world of water fun and safety. The focus for this class is to ensure your baby’s first swim experience is a positive one by guiding both the parent and the child in basic water orientation.

2. WATER MOVEMENT

Ages 3-5 & Ages 6-12 In this stage, swimmers should be comfortable with their face in the water and able to swim 1520ft. on their front independently (with flotation for preschool stage). Swimmers will work towards 15yd. on their front with alternating arms, and back floating for 20 seconds (10 secs. for preschool stage.

Ages 19-36 months Your infant or toddler will continue to learn about water safety, while practicing basic swimming skills and breath control at a higher level of independence.

Ages 3-5 & Ages 6-12 Students must be able to swim/float/ swim for 15yd. and will build the endurance to swim/float/ swim 25 yd. throughout the session; swimmers will work on rotary breathing and backstroke.

Ages 3-5 & Ages 6-13 Students must be able to swim 50yd. of freestyle and backstroke continuously. During this stage, students work on stroke technique and learn all competitive strokes.

6. STROKE MECHANICS

Ages 6 + In this stage, swimmers should be able to swim 150yd. of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke and will build the endurance to swim 200yd. with proper turns. Throughout the session, stroke technique will be refined and students will discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle.

Ages 3-5 & Ages 6-13 Students must be able to proficiently swim 25yd. (15yd for preschool stage) of freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers will build the endurance to swim 50yd. (25yd. for preschool stage) continuously and will be introduced to both the breaststroke and butterfly kicks.

HOUSING/SOCIAL SERVICES The Elizabeth Branch offers extensive housing and social service programs to support individuals and families in need of a safe environment with opportunities to restructure their lives. Our goal is to provide a continuum of care that provides the assistance necessary to transition from homelessness to selfsufficiency. We offer a full range of housing opportunities from temporary transitional to permanent housing for men, women and families. We also offer supportive housing programs for individuals and families with disabilities, as well as Project Sustain, a Mommy and Me residential program for pregnant women and women with children who are in recovery from addiction. W.I.S.E. SENIOR SERVICES (Wellness, Independence, Socialization for Elders) Balancing life can be difficult enough. We are here with you every support you need. W.I.S.E. Adult Day Services.

The overall goal of ELR is to help your child develop the cognitive, physical and social skills needed to be school ready. As the child’s first teacher, each caregiver is provided the skills of understanding their role in early child development, skill enhancement, brain development and school readiness. ELR is for both the Caregiver and their youth age 0-5 years.

FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY MAKING A DIFFERENCE BLOOD PRESSURE SELFMONITORING PROGRAM (BPSM)

AARP SMART DRIVER COURSE

Research shows that simply checking and recording your blood pressure (BP) twice a month for four months may lower BP for those with high BP. To qualify for BPSM, participants must be 18+ years of age, have been diagnosed with high BP, not experienced a recent cardiac event or have any arrhythmias or atrial fibrillation. With BPSM, participants will work with trained staff over a four-month period to improve their selfmonitoring skills. Program goals are to reduce and better manage your BP, and enhance knowledge of healthier eating habits. Monthly Nutrition Seminars will highlight healthier eating habits. Full Members

LIVESTRONG® AT THE YMCA LiveSTRONG® at the YMCA is a small-group program that helps adult cancer survivors reclaim their health and wellbeing following a cancer diagnosis. The AARP Smart Driver course is the nation’s first refresher course specifically designed for drivers age 50 and older. In many states, drivers may benefit from a discount on their auto insurance premium upon completing the course. And you will learn something new along the way. In fact, an evaluation of the course found that 97% of participants changed at least one driving habit as a result of what they learned. Register by calling the Welcome Center.

ONESTEP MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS PROGRAM OneStep is a 12-week, 24-session course geared toward adults that have been medically diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The goal of One Step is to provide safe, therapeutic exercise that address the issues of fatigue, walking, weakness and depression and empower participants with emotional support through facilitated conversation in a controlled environment.
