5. THE CLIMATES OF SPAIN - Spain has mainly climate temperate. - There are several factors that produce a climatic precipitation: 1. LATITUDE: It influences temperature, which arelower as we go North. It influences precipitation, which is greater at higher laitudes. 2. ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE: Atlantic depressions carry rain across the Iberian Peninsula from West to East. (there is higher precipitation in the West than in the East) The Azores anticyclone causes: - dry, sunny weather in summer - in winter it movves South and polar winds enter the Peninsula 3. ALTITUDE: Causes temperature to fall and precipitaion to increase in mountain areas. 4. DISTANCE FROM THE SEA: The mountain ranges that surround the Central Plateau form a barrier against the influence of the sea. Temperatures are milder near the coast and more exreme inland Precipitation is greater near the coast than in central Spain
