3. HEALTHCARE AND EDUCATION UNEQUAL ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE
- Health is a basic right. - It depends on th equality of medical care and the living conditions in our surrounding area. - One third of the global population does not have access to essential medicines. - Poverty is the reason for inadequate healthcare in many regions, but there are other causes: 1.
Healthcare workers: - There are not enough workers - They lack job security and have limited resources. - Developing countries cannot assigned many resources to public health. 2. Pharmaceutical multinationals: - They protect their medicines with patents - Patents make impossible to produce similar medicines at a lower cost for a long period of time. 3. International organisations: - They have limited funds to deal with healthcare emergencies, leaving little money for prevention programmes, primary care and infrastructural development.
