Maps and globes use imaginary lines called parallels and meridians. Parallels and meridians cross each other and form a grid. This grid allow us to locate any point on the Earth’s surface

PARALLELS: Imaginary lines that cross the earth from East to West.

 EQUATOR: 1.The main parallel, it’s at 0 º 2. It’s at an equal distance from both poles. 3. It’s divides the Earth into two equal parts (Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere) 4. It’s the widest parallel.  POLES: Are at 90 º. MERIDIANS: Imaginary lines that run from the North Pole to the South Pole.  PRIME MERIDIAN: It’s at 0º and it’s also called Greenwich Meridian.  OTHER MERIDIANS: Goes from 180º East (E) to 180º West (W) from the Greenwich Meridian.
