obviously some serious fashion statements laid down on the evening. Not sure what they were trying to say though! Lots of photos inside. Hopefully New Members will be able to see Robbo’s latest DVD which should be rolling at New Members Night at the Dealership they sum up what Invicta is all about!

Firstly can I direct you to the Events Page on the inside back cover – there is absolutely loads going on and if there are still any gaps in the program, they are almost sure to be filled by impromptu rideouts. Now please,

Please keep your contributions coming for inclusion in the Newsletter, if I can’t always get them in the current issue, they will eventually appear. So keep sending in your articles, photos and blackmail for inclusion in the Newsletter, to:

Please remember an approved Invicta Rideout MUST have a Road Captain to lead it. Both Invicta and HOG® take your safety very seriously and Road Captains are experienced riders who have been on approved training courses for group riding. This doesn’t mean that you can’t go out with your mates on a run, that’s what the bike is for, however we will not be able to class it as an Invicta HOG® Rideout, with our very limited third party liability cover from HOG®, so it won’t be classed as an Invicta Rideout. The Spring Ball has come and gone and there were

I’m still surprised at how few ‘blackmail’ photos have arrived, if I keep prompting, more might appear…… I now have my twin pipes fitted and they are now adorned with their gorgeous fishtails, but… I’m still having trouble getting loud pipes - don’t know why? I’m still baffled!

Director’s Dialogue May 2014 I am so glad the weather has improved enabling us to get the bikes out. We even rode to Tilts meet at Paddock Wood only taking my bike. Jane hasn’t been a pillion for years so the difference in handling was noticeable. I am glad she remembered not to fidget when I am stationary. I must say it was cosy but don’t think my bike is set for two up riding or someone will have to lose weight!

(Blimey, you’re in trouble! – Ed.)

Me and Jane have completed our Mileage forms for the Chapter Challenge and have been out a few times on our own, being unable to make Sunday rides due to other commitments. Hopefully our planning will now enable us to join the rest of you soon. And as I am on the subject of Chapter Challenge please sign up as soon as possible or contact Mary or Pete at MsHD to sort. We also had the Spring Ball well attended and enjoyed by all. Well done to all who helped to make it another outstanding occasion. I have been busy finalising our trip to Tennessee on 9th May, Jane packing for 3 weeks now and still hasn’t made up her mind what she is taking. We get back on the late May Bank holiday weekend, then 3 weeks later it’s off to Magic Bike Week in June. 5 weeks after that off with Invicta to the Ardennes . Looking forward to all that. Some of you will have attended the Cider Rally May bank holiday and as usual will report back what a great time you had. Never done that one, must try next year, only getting 4 weeks leave a year it’s difficult fitting all in. SofER 2015 is being planned and we should soon know where it will be held. You will be pleased to know we will be sorting improved washing and toilet facilities as it’s our main complaint. Please take note of the SofER Committee note on page 7 which is obviously important. As far as committee are concerned both Lawrence (HRC) and Gill Whibley (Treasurer) are stepping down from their posts this October. So anyone who is interested please contact me at director@invictahog.co.uk especially for the Treasurer post as there will need to be a handover period. Finally Robbo needs photos from you so he can put together our yearly Invicta DVD. Because they get to him in all different formats he has to convert them which takes him hours. (Contd.)

Reports

So to make his life easier send him your pics to john.robo5@sky.com and hopefully we can get this done for our AGM in October. He does a fantastic job compiling this for Invicta with no charge for his own time and I know it’s appreciated by all. Enjoy your rides with loads of pics. Be safe out there Ian Martin Director

SofER Committee Would you like to get more involved with the running of the South of England Rally?

The five Chapters are now homing in on an exciting new SofER venue for 2015. In line with this, the Committee is also changing the way we operate, as we consider VAT registration and a more formal business structure - but all carried out with the same sense of fun, imagination and adventure that has powered us through the last ten years. In relation to the new venue and our likely new operational structure, as well as the ends of duty cycles for a couple of Committee members, we are in need of the following: Someone with Event Risk Assessment experience to help us ensure we meet our responsibilities at the new venue. A new Secretary to help us record and document our meetings every couple of months or so. Someone to shadow and assist our current Treasurer through 2015 with a view to taking over this role in 2016.

This calling notice is going out to all 5 SofER Chapters. If any Invicta Chapter Member wishes to be considered for any of these roles, please contact Ian Martin at director@invictahog.co.uk stating your interest. We look forward to you helping us to produce an exciting, all new SofER in 2015 and beyond!

The Tilting Files. Assistant Director ‘C’ – Graham Chambers More Rambling’s…… Well, finally getting settled… gradually finding homes for everything, mind you it seems that if things don’t fit in the house it ends up in MY garage? And becomes MY problem!!! I finally got the bike home from my daughter’s, who was kindly looking after it for me - I had to dig it out from under all the boot fair rubbish but she started first time? So I will be out and about with you all again. The weather had the club fooled this year, as last year we organised plenty of early rides and it Bl**dy snowed in March and April!!!, this year we felt we would start a couple of weeks later remembering those on last year’s Road Captain’s course were soaked to the skin, and frozen for the whole weekend? Well this year the nice weather started early - you just cannot win? So we, as a committee, have now decided that it is better to organise something, and cancel rather than not do anything? (So lesson learnt there?) Went to the dealership the other day just to have a look around and I’ve got to say that the “Electra Glides” are still calling me? But with the cold voice of reason on my shoulder whispering “Don’t do it?” it still doesn’t help, or stop the calling…. Andy is not much help either offering me Demo rides? “Just bring your license along says he!!!” I know if I get on one that will be it? Also I’ve got Carol saying “It will be too heavy for you?” And your crotch is not right yet!!! (Too much information there?) I keep looking… Just had my bike Insurance Renewal through, and I have been with them for about 18 years, never had a claim!!! but they have now thrown me out because I have reached the ripe old age of 70!!! – still luckily Devitt found me another company and it was a bit cheaper, but with an £600 excess!!! WHOOPS! Still if we want to ride our bikes into senility we have to pay the price?

(Just think how much Stormin’ must pay! – Ed.)

The Historic Racing season has started, and the first weekend was at Silverstone on the Saturday and Donnington on the Sunday. Bit of a risk I thought with my son-in-law’s track record for hitting walls? But he said he was taking Tubby for Silverstone, and the Lenham for Donnington.” Anyway, Norman was dragged out from winter hibernation - we dusted down the bikes, and set off early on the Saturday morning, and even ‘Sicknote’ (Carol) was up ready for a ride? So off we went; lovely ride up to Silverstone, the weather was ideal, but why anybody lives there beats me, it is always so cold and windy and it’s always coming from the east?? (Contd.)

Reports

I have never been to Silverstone yet and had nice weather. But it wasn’t raining so that was a plus, although the rest of the country was having some brilliant warm and cloudless sunshine…. To cut a long story short, although we did not go to Donnington on the Sunday, the right front wing and head light was taken out at Silverstone on the Saturday, by a car overtaking him on a corner, and the main bearing went on the Lenham at Donnington on the Sunday - half a mile from the finishing flag!!! He tried to do a Schueeeeee by finishing in the pit lane? But the stewards were having none of it, so NO points there!!!! (Not a happy bunny?) On the way home I had a ‘Tilt’ moment!! And laid the bike down (I was stationery) in the middle of the road, Norman missed the exit, so had to do a U turn…. (Always a dodgy thing to do?) there’s poor Carol trying to get off, hopping about trying to untangle herself… So there we are three seventy somethings trying to pick the bike up? And the cars just sitting there looking at us, as if you are the entertainment? I don’t know why I try to hold it up, I should just let it go? Got back home on the Saturday night about eight o’clock, five minutes before the rain started, so a good result there then? Went on Mag’s “Pioneer Run” on the Sunday, what beautiful weather we had. Turned up at 08.30 to find out that Paddock Wood do not do breakfasts anymore on a Sunday morning - I don’t know when that happened? So my advice at club night on Wednesday to get there early, and have breakfast was well out!!!! (sorry!! Sarah and Kevin). Plenty of bikes turned out for a lovely ride through the Sussex countryside to Brighton, travelling with some of the old bikes on the way, giving them the thumbs up as we pass by. Arrived in Brighton in good order with Mags leading the way, having lost only two, we saw them fly past the pub as we were having our bacon rolls and coffee!!! Fish and Chips on the sea front, and then the ride home, what a prefect day…. put it down to old age!!! But I really had to think about how I was going to get home, as I nearly went off to Chatham instead of heading for West Malling, only stopping myself in Tunbridge Wells? It was a brilliant day well organised by Mags, so looking forward to the next one Mags? Hoping we get good weather like that for the Fish and Chip run to Leysdown at the end of April? Well that’s enough from me for this month, keep riding and see you out there. Ride safe Tilt

The Incredible Shrinking Man

Will he disappear altogether? Assistant Director ‘B’ – Colin Proudlock Hi all, Looks like the weather is holding out so let's ride. Chris and I rode to the Hot Rod American Diner at Northfleet on Wednesday - it would be a good ride out on a 5th week. Teresa and I am looking forward to the Cider rally the first weekend in May, so I hope the weather holds out. I hope to see more of you ON YOUR BIKES at the Jackdaw, weather permitting. Ride safe. Colin. PS. It's all about the weather init. Lol.

Assistant Director ‘A’ – Karen Melhuish Hello everyone, just to say I have not a lot to say so I added some nostalgia in this month, scanned some very early Bisley pics which I recently found in an old HOG magazine, which I felt although these might make us feel sad at this year’s non-event at least will provide the opportunity to recall this historical event. I have had a fair bit to deal with recently but hope to have worked through these things soon, nothing too serious but had to miss a couple of committee meetings so I am catching up. My bike has been poorly so I am missing out on a great deal of fun too. The spring ball was a great night; thank you to Nicky and Val for all the hard work in organising this and to Graham Ibiza Bliss. I enjoyed this immensely through the pain of my back and the assistance of plenty of wine. Hope you enjoy reading about the old Bisley event of 2004. Oh well, see you all soon. That’s enough from me except have fun and I will update on any events for the Pippin if we decide to stay there, I am still looking at a few ideas in respect to possible new venues and will update you soon. Love and kisses, stay safe. Karen X

Don’t Forget to Register your bike for this years Chapter Mileage Challenge! Still lots of you not registered – it only takes a minute. Speak to Mary or Peter at the Dealership.

Andy’s Almanac What a fantastic start to the year, with some excellent rideouts already, the thing I have taken from the ones I have managed to be on is, how beautiful our county and country is. OK so some of the roads at the present need some work on them but have most certainly have found some ones that have that Weeee!!! Factor in ‘em.

When you the States way, and in will be off rally in

read this those off to will soon be on their next to no time those to the HOG® Euro Croatia.

So don’t let the year fly by and I will not use the ‘C’ word here but before you know it that will creep up on us all. Make time to come on the rideouts and trips, OK Croatia is most defiantly signed and sealed. The Big Bulge Dodgy Tour is about the same but you might just be able to get a room down the road, talk to me.

As for the RTTW this is still a bit flexible. I have just managed to get another 5 rooms, if you are still in the, “not quite made me mind up mood”, then speak to Des Larner or Me like now. While I am here those who said put me on the list please send me your deposits so I can see some commitment. You will see from the Events Diary here in the News Letter that we have almost filled it with just a few Sunday’s free. Please feel free to make destination suggestions, we have just reprogrammed things to fit in a trip to Portsmouth RN Dock yard, we are trying, Honest!

The Last Word

Man who leaps off cliff jumps to conclusion. Confucius WORDSEARCH ~ A Work Of Art

A big biker stopped at a local restaurant following a day riding around in Spain. While sipping his wine, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, the smell was wonderful. He asked the waiter, 'What is that you just served?' The waiter replied, 'Si senor, you have excellent taste! Those are called Cojones de Toro, (bull's testicles) from the bull fight this morning. A delicacy!'

The cowboy said, 'What the heck, bring me an order.' The waiter replied, 'I am so sorry senor. There is only one serving per day because there is only one bull fight each morning. If you come early and place your order, we will be sure to save you this delicacy.' The next morning, the biker returned, placed his order, and that evening was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. After a few bites, inspecting his platter, he called to the waiter and said, 'These are delicious, but they are much, much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday.' The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, Si, Senor. Sometimes the bull wins!
