“In February 2021 the average price of homes SOLD IN ALL OF PEI was a sizable gain of 17.1% from February 2020.” 2020 IS A YEAR THAT WE WON’T BE FORGETTING ANYTIME SOON. The real estate industry started out quite strong and we were planning for a busy year. Then came the unexpected... I remember being at the PEI Home Show in March meeting buyers and sellers, full of optimism. A week later, COVID-19 started shutting down our world. During the months of March, April and May, there were challenges in our industry that we had never even imagined. “How can we sell houses if we can’t be around people?” At first glance, it seemed impossible. Looking back, I am amazed at how quickly we adapted. Technology offered the solutions that we were looking for and we began to make things happen. I will never forget my first virtual listing appointment. It was amazing! I used FaceTime meetings to work with clients to help them “Stage” their homes for sale and guide them through the selling process towards a successful sale. Working with clients virtually has now become something that is very normal. Late spring of 2020, when restrictions started to relax on PEI, we were able to resume working with buyers locally but of course very carefully. The new guidelines included wearing masks and gloves and sanitizing anything touched during showings. We are required to ask our
Buyers the necessary Covid-19 screening questions and we have them sign a Prince Edward Island Real Estate Association waiver prior to showing them any property. The safety of our clients is our number 1 priority. Summer of 2020 was a busy time for PEI real estate. We were still dealing with a world-wide pandemic, but we were seeing a strong demand for listings. Buyers were willing to compete in multiple offer situations. I have had many situations in the past year where clients are relocating from a different province and buying site unseen. When these buyers arrive I am able to make all the arrangements to make sure that the closing can take place prior to their arrival so that when they arrive they are able to isolate in their new home for the required two week period. It has been a pleasure to help many buyers from my old marketplace in Ontario. I sold real estate for over 25 years in Ontario so I know a lot of REALTOR®s and people in Ontario. “In February 2021 the average price of homes SOLD IN ALL OF PEI was a sizable gain of 17.1% from February 2020.” 2020 IS A YEAR THAT WE WON’T BE FORGETTING ANYTIME SOON. The real estate industry started out quite strong and we were planning for a busy year. Then came the unexpected... I remember being at the PEI Home Show in March meeting buyers and sellers, full of optimism. A week later, COVID-19 started shutting down our world. During the months of March, April and May, there were challenges in our industry that we had never even imagined. “How can we sell houses if we can’t be around people?” At first glance, it seemed impossible. Looking back, I am amazed at how quickly we adapted. Technology offered the solutions that we were looking for and we began to make things happen. I will never forget my first virtual listing appointment. It was amazing! I used FaceTime meetings to work with clients to help them “Stage” their homes for sale and guide them through the selling process towards a successful sale. Working with clients virtually has now become something that is very normal. Late spring of 2020, when restrictions started to relax on PEI, we were able to resume working with buyers locally but of course very carefully. The new guidelines included wearing masks and gloves and sanitizing anything touched during showings. We are required to ask our
Buyers the necessary Covid-19 screening questions and we have them sign a Prince Edward Island Real Estate Association waiver prior to showing them any property. The safety of our clients is our number 1 priority. Summer of 2020 was a busy time for PEI real estate. We were still dealing with a world-wide pandemic, but we were seeing a strong demand for listings. Buyers were willing to compete in multiple offer situations.
