2020 was a challenging year for many industries and real estate was no exception. We all made adjustments to how we live and work.

PEI has become an attractive market for out of province buyers because of our excellent record at managing the pandemic. I’ve had great success at closing deals in this new market reality.

While it’s true that the process of buying or selling a home is a little more complicated than it was just 12 months ago, I’ve been successful at minimizing interaction by using virtual showings, paperless transactions and contactless closings. Almost every step of the house hunting

I went to work on safety checklists and new ways to do our business. As a team, we had been meeting four times a week via zoom since we opened in Jan 2019 for accountability and support so we decided to help those within our community with the 100 helping hands campaign. This kept us motivated, excited, and moved us forward from a

We were already dealing with a supply issue on PEI and when the pandemic hit, the sense of urgency that many had in wanting to move to our island created many multiple offer situations causing properties to go in some cases as much as 5% +/- over list price. It has been a VERY different experience and process for Buyers. Many who relocated here have had to rely 100% on their REALTOR® and the team that their Agent brought to them ie Home Inspectors, Plumbers, Lawyers, Contractors, Mortgage Specialists and trust them to walk them through to homeownership and in

many cases sponsoring them to the island to also ensure that their furniture arrives before them, their internet is set up for their arrival and to do any grocery runs etc needed.

We are so fortunate for the way PEI officials handled this pandemic. Patty, what is your forecast for the Real Estate Market in PEI in 2021 and beyond? 2021, I believe, will continue to be a strong year for the real estate market. Many who had a difficult time relocating to the island without feeling and experiencing the property are growing antsy and are getting the process started this year regardless. There are more new construction projects going on which will ease a little bit of the pressure on the resale residential home market. The continued aging baby boomer demographic continues to offer new inventory every year onto the market and impacts the condo market and rental market. I believe values will not see the increases they have seen in previous years but will definitely be going up for another year. In my opinion, it will soften
