What is...No, who is “that kid BEN?” He’s the one who will cheer you up, and bring the fun into the environment. BEN keeps jokes rolling and creative ideas flowing! ThatKidBEN is like a race car, he adjusts himself to every project in order to produce the best results, just like a race car is prepped and adjusted for every different track. ThatKidBEN and racing can be dangerously fun, extremely exciting, and always loud. With both, you never know what is going to happen next!
ThatKidBEN is a unique self promotion for one exciting graphic designer. Ben’s self brand is created with the influence of the late to new propaganda design, and the Russian Constructivist Movement. This style of design is an inspiration to Ben’s self brand because of its influential power and motivation on viewers.
An Import Car Show designed and curated by ThatKidBEN has a fascination with cars that began in childhood. As an adult, he finally got his hands on an 04 infiniti G35. He started customizing his car and attending car shows regularly. Ben observed a culture of people who come together to meet, talk about their cars, and get inspiration at these car meetings and events. Whether it’s Japanese, European, or good ol’ American muscle cars, ThatKidBEN is clear that these events blend people and car culture. ThatKidBEN designed and curated an innovative car show that integrates technology, smart design, and the Hella Flush car culture. Show Elements Include:

Interior: Signal Auto bucket with a Nagisa seat
rail, R32 GTR passenger seat, DMax floor mats, Yashio shift boot, Nismo shift knob, NRG quick release steering hub, a Nardi Classic Steering wheel and Autometer boost gauge.
Suspension: Fortune Auto 500 series coilovers, Fortune Auto toe-rods, Megan tension rods, tie-rod ends, rear upper control arms,and traction rods.
Wheels: 215/40 17 Federal 595s.
Exterior: Custom shaved windshield spray nozzles,
trunk key-lock, and rear side markers. A little bit of work was put in to the quarter panels as well to make sure those SSRs fit right. Silvia front-end conversion with Circuit Sport clear headlight covers and JDM amber/clear bumper lights. Custom sprayed 51e Subaru Aspen White. Matte black OEM mud flaps, OEM window visors and a matte black Accord front lip.

ThatKidBEN noticed that most car shows lack information provided about each car in attendance. Although you may know a thing or two about cars, you probably didn’t know what all the parts and modifications were on the car that you’re standing in front of. Beach Ballin’ is a brand new and modern car show that allows it’s attendees a chance to scan a QR code placed onto each car. Upon scanning, a link to a profile page via smart phone, will allow you to view its parts and modifications. This provides information to the viewers so they more informed about cars they are looking at.You are also able to share and like the car through social media access.

ThatKidBEN was chosen to participate in the NIKE Design Studio at Laguna College of Art + Design. 1 of 4 schools chosen out of the world, Ben worked with a close team of 4 classmates and the NIKE global creative design team. (Designers of the fuel band) BEN’s team goal was to enhance the experience for the fans and athletes at the 2016 Rio Olympics. The design studio spent 8 weeks researching BMX racing. BEN’s thoroughly understood the entire essence of a BMX racer. ThatKidBEN’s team created the concept of NIKE Track IT Telemetry Training system. This brand new technology helps a BMX racer exceed their capabilities, ride faster, and provides a clear path in order to get to the Olympic competition level. With the easy use of one’s smart phone, carbon fiber tracking handlebar, and power link system, so riders can achieve Olympic competition levels.

The Crab Leg is a quick restaurant for your fixation of fresh crab and crab accessories. With a similar style to a Chipotle restaurant, at Crab Leg, crab can be ordered and eaten within a matter of minutes. A conceptual project ThatKidBEN created because you want crab, and you want it now!

This project included a re branding of the United States Postal Service to find new effective services in order to bring new revenue. The United States Postal Service is losing approximately three billion dollars each year. With a steady decline they are in desperate need of being revamped. ThatKidBEN’s goal is to re brand the USPS with a modern, minimal, and exciting new feel. ThatKidBEN researched and understood the USPS key products / services, customers, workers, and function of operations. He also believe that appealing to a younger clientèle, will be key for the USPS survival.

The USPS will go back to mailing roots and feature a brand new way for you to ship and receive your mail! Send mail from your home by simply calling for a bicycle messenger. Once your order is placed, a messenger will be sent to your home, helping you to ship or receive your mail even faster!
ThatKidBEN worked with Hurley for their 2012 summer design internship under Jeff Hurley for online graphics. During his internship Ben handled online ECOM, and designs in production for Hurley’s online store. He also worked with photography and photo manipulation for online ad’s and banners. As a part of team digital, ThatKidBEN also created wire frames and TV graphics for the 2012 Us OPEN of Surfing Hurley Brand Experience.
