SEA CHANGE Parklea’s latest development is surrounded by some of Australia’s most iconic beaches. Find out more about what’s planned for the upcoming Torquay-Jan Juc estate. The Torquay-Jan Juc area has long been popular for its surfing scene, stunning beaches and location on the iconic Great Ocean Road. The area has seen significant growth over the past decade and is forecast to grow from 13,000 to 30,000 residents in the next 25 years with new residential developments on the horizon. The Spring Creek Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) is a strategic plan to cater for part of the area’s population growth, and includes the construction of approximately 1,800 dwellings to accommodate more than 4,500 people. Parklea’s newest estate will form part of this residential precinct. The estate will consist of 300 -350 lots and upon approval of the PSP next year,
it is anticipated that construction will commence in summer 2017/2018. Located on the corner of Duffields Road and the Great Ocean Road, this high quality estate will feature large blocks, ocean views, a bike track and parklands running alongside Spring Creek to the beach, beautiful native landscaping, and a potential shopping centre. The estate is also walking distanceto the RACV Golf Course.
This high quality estate will feature large blocks and ocean views.
The development of the site will involve a strong focus on sustainability, underpinned by a 6-Leaf EnviroDevelopment Accreditation by the UDIA. EnviroDevelopment covers environmental and sustainability issues such as ecosystems, waste, energy, materials, water and community.
Parklea will take great care to protect native flora and fauna and heritage aspects of the Great Ocean Road. Stay up-to-date on all the latest news on the upcoming Torquay-Jan Juc development at parklea.com.au
KADUNA PARK RECEIVES UDIA’S ENVIRODEVELOPMENT ACCREDITATION Parklea’s Kaduna Park has been accredited as an EnviroDevelopment by the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA). The UDIA is Australia’s foremost representative body for the Urban Development industry and provides policies and solutions to improve Australia’s development. As a member of UDIA, Parklea adheres to national development laws and policies such as the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act. This act protects important flora, fauna, ecological communities and heritage places. Parklea’s land estates in particular have always embraced their natural environments, bringing homes into harmony with nature. In fact, beautiful untouched surroundings are one of the biggest appeals for residents living in Parklea’s estates. From Everton Gardens’ 300 year old River Red Gums to Timbertop’s rolling, tree covered hills, to Spring Creek running alongside the upcoming Torquay-Jan Juc development, Parklea endeavours to preserve the natural surroundings that give each area its own unique character. For Kaduna Park, the recent EnviroDevelopment accreditation forms part of the underlying vision for the development and sets a benchmark for new communities within the Cardinia Shire. Parklea has been accredited with four EnviroDevelopment Leaves and it is envisaged by the time we release to market it will obtain all 6, the first within the Cardinia Shire. This accreditation will feature in the next edition of the Parklea QTRLY.

LIVING THE DREAM Originally from the UK, Amy and Matthew Dodds moved to Australia a couple of years ago with their two children. After renting in Sydney and Melbourne they wanted to find a place to build their dream home and settle down. The decision to move to Timbertop was instinctive. The beautiful surroundings and family-centred community just felt right. “For us it was a choice between being inner city in a smaller place or coming out here and having more space and a bigger home, which was important to us with two young kids”, said Matthew. With a young family, the local facilities, childcare and schools surrounding Timbertop were ideal for the Dodds. Their children are enjoying their school and daycare.
With the rest of their family living overseas, the Dodds love spending time together exploring Melbourne, eating out together at local cafés and restaurants and just being at home, enjoying the laid back Australian lifestyle. They love being able to see kangaroos and kookaburras in and around the estate. “You’ve got a coffee shop at the front, there’s a winery next door, you can go for a meal and a glass of wine on the weekends – it’s a lovely environment for a family,” said Matthew. Boutique Homes
Meet Premier Builders Group’s Building and Design Consultant, Wayne Colomb.
We spoke to Tania Hogan, New Homes Consultant for Boutique Homes about the Boutique process.
What sets Premier Builders Group apart from other builders? We are the biggest period style building company in Victoria - high end, period style homes are our niche in the market. We cater to a range of budgets with houses from $500,000 and beyond. I can draw houses from scratch or modify homes until they’re exactly what the client needs.
What are some tips customers should keep in mind when searching for their dream home? Think about the three most important aspects of your new home to help narrow down the search. What are your non-negotiables? What do you like about where you are currently living and what would you change?
How do you help clients with their home building journey? Every client is so different. Before designing their home, I like to spend a lot of time finding out what’s important to them, what their long term goals are, what their budget is and more holistic things like lifestyle. I put my heart into each project and client and I love seeing families move into their new homes. What makes Timbertop a great place to build? Parkea are a quality developer, they really care about the presentation and feel of the estate. They’ve put a lot of effort into green spaces and the width of the roads, and use quality contractors - it’s all in the details. Premier are a good fit for Timbertop because we’re a niche builder and being a premium estate, Timbertop attracts the types of buyers that would consider buying a period style home. Our houses range from 23sq to 49sq but are all built to the same quality and include premium inclusions. What excites you about your job? I know how exciting it is to build, whether you’re building for investment or a dream home. I love being part of that journey. Cardinia locals donated 330 kilograms of food to the Parklea Winter Food Drive, bringing comfort to families in crisis during winter. Collection points were set up at Arena Shopping Centre and Timbertop Estate, filling up with food throughout winter. The drive was run in conjunction with Pakenham based charity, The 4C’s, which provides support to disadvantaged families in the Cardinia region. In one year alone, the Pakenham based charity donated over 500 tonnes of food. They also provide shelter, counselling, life skills, and financial relief to help get families back on their feet. The 4C’s General Manager, Cheryl Daly was overwhelmed by the public’s response. “Over the winter period many families have been doing it tough and have needed an extra hand to get them through,” said Ms Daly.
“With over 300 families accessing our food room service each month, these items have made a wonderful contribution. Thank you to everyone who willing donated items for the food drive,” she said. Parklea, the Shire’s largest land developer, have previously worked with The 4C’s, rallying community support for families in need throughout the region. Initiatives such as the Parklea Gift Drive appeal, which provides gifts to disadvantaged children, and the Winter Food Drive are a powerful force, bringing the community together and providing hope to those who struggle for the basic comforts of life.
As our community continues to grow and expand, there is a increased need to reach out and help others. As we’ve seen with the food drive, the community has great power in numbers to make a difference,” said Jarod Mills, Sales & Marketing Manager at Parklea.
