In this edition of Inside Energy, we look at the Vietnamese LNG market ahead of EIC Connect Virtual Vietnam in March, as well Mark Risley as a one-to-one with Op-tec Systems Managing Director Richard Banyard.
In a country that still relies heavily on hydropower and coal-fired power generation to meet demand that is set to soar in the near future, Vietnam has emerged as one of the most attractive markets for large-scale LNG projects.
Hirzi Iskander, Research Analyst at the EIC, discusses how LNG will be a significant part of helping to meet the growing energy demand while helping to meet its decarbonisation targets. The sector will feature heavily at EIC Connect Virtual Vietnam on 16-17 March, which is free to attend for EIC members.

Before that though, EIC Connect is brought once again to the Middle East, where we will host the event virtually in the UAE for the tenth year running on 23-24 February.
Invited speakers include ADNOC, Dragon Oil, Masdar, IRENA, McDermott and many more, with attendance also free for EIC members.
On page 6, I had the pleasure of meeting Richard Banyard, Managing Director at EIC member company Op-tec Systems Ltd, who’s company provides software and support services for control and automation.
He talks about the fascinating applications of his technology in the energy sector, which are now more important than ever in a business environment dominated by COVID-19.
This month’s Spotlight on Technology feature looks at ABB’s recent MoU with CORYS, who look to advance digital twin modelling and simulation technology across the energy and process industries.
