Primary School Highlights (preschool, junior kindergarten, kindergarten) • Two teachers in every classroom – an expert head teacher and an experienced assistant – provide students with extensive individual attention and small-group instruction. Primary School reading and math specialists also work closely with teachers and students to build these critical skills.
• A developmentally aligned curriculum offers an inquiry-based, thematic, experiential approach to engage all students’ senses while uncovering individual strengths and interests.
• Classes with specialists in music, physical education, and Spanish start in preschool, with art,
science, and technology integrated into the homeroom curriculum. Beginning in kindergarten, students work with STEAM and art specialists as they explore these subjects in greater depth.
• Our Little Buddies program, pairing kindergartners with eighth-graders, provides inspiring role models for our kindergarten students and fosters a growing friendship.
Lower School Highlights (grades 1-5) • Interdisciplinary, inquiry-based lessons – combining the core disciplines with music, art, drama,
library skills, technology, and physical education – inspire students to notice previously unexplored connections, ask probing questions, and seek hands-on, creative solutions.
• Classes with a STEAM specialist in grades 1-2 and lab work with a science specialist in grades 3-5 prepare students to delve deeper into these subjects every year.
• Small, flexible instruction groups at each grade level allow teachers to differentiate their lessons according to each child’s strengths and capabilities.
• A robust Resource Department, including math specialists, reading specialists, and counselors, supports students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
Middle School Highlights (grades 6-8) • Our experiential, inquiry-based curriculum challenges students to engage deeply in independent critical thinking and sophisticated analysis of complex material.
• Our Middle School building is designed to shape and inspire students’ learning prowess, leadership capacity, and collaboration skills with cutting-edge science labs, a rooftop classroom, and a social gathering space.
• Leadership opportunities include Student Council, a Student Ambassador program, service learning projects, drama productions, competitive athletics, and the Little Buddies program.
• Our carefully designed, attentive high school placement process – offering individual counseling, test prep classes, and mock interviews – guides each eighth-grader to confidently apply to and choose best-fit high schools, allowing students to explore their interests, passions, and strengths. The curriculum and programs referenced here may change, as we believe educational programs should continually evolve to meet the needs of our students.
