When did you start getting involved with theatre and how did you find out about The Naples Players? I began getting involved with The Naples Players in the summer of 2016 where I was in the Kidzact production of Doo Wop Wed Widing Hood. I found out about TNP when my mother signed me up to audition for the show as she was looking for good theatre programs for kids and KidzAct was the most highly recommended.

2

What was your role in the mainstage version of Something Rotten! and what is your role in Something Rotten! Teen? In the mainstage production of Something Rotten! I was in the ensemble and in the teen production I portray Will Shakespeare.

Brian’s first show at TNP, the 2016 production of Doo Wap Wed Widing Hood.

Tell us about the challenges and rewards of doing the same production but in two different roles. There are a variety of challenges and an abundance of rewards from being in both. Learning the teen production while still being in the mainstage show is quite a challenge as the two different tracks can merge and it can create confusion during the run. Although, being in both productions helps you learn the show inside and out and understand all the different aspects and perspectives of the show that can help define your character(s).

What is your favorite part about performing at TNP? My favorite part of performing at TNP is the family that you create while you are here. You form bonds that can last years and some of the people that you meet here will grow to become some of your best friends. Not to mention, the support that you receive here is unparalleled and the environment allows you to be yourself.

What are your future plans for theatre? I plan to participate in theatre here at TNP as much as possible over the course of the next year while also participating in the shows at Gulf Coast High School. After that, I plan to carry theatre for the rest of my life as it has defined who I am and it will continue to do so.

To find out more about auditioning at TNP, contact: Cole Butcher
