3. Lake Murray State Park 13528 Scenic State Hwy 77, Ardmore
This is the first and largest state park in Oklahoma. Lake Murray is entirely surrounded by Lake Murray State Park. There is one scenic highway (77S) that runs around the entire park. You can use the scenic highway to get to all of the areas, campgrounds, beaches, and more within Lake Murray State Park. Lake Murray State Park covers a massive 12,500 acres including parks, beaches, hiking trails, campgrounds, an ATV/motorcycle area, 18-hole golf course, airport, RC Flying Field, cabins, boat ramps and more. The Lake Murray Nature Center is a learning center that covers everything from the lake’s history to local wildlife to the water itself. Also on site is Tucker Tower which serves as one of Oklahoma’s most visible landmarks. You can climb to the top of Tucker Tower, which provides a 360 degree view of the lake and the surrounding areas. The Nature Center and Tucker Tower are open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and admission is free.

As Oklahoma’s oldest national park area, the Chickasaw National Recreation Area has been a haven for outdoor traditions for over a century. The park had its beginnings in 1902 when the government purchased 640 acres from the Chickasaw Nation. The Chickasaw National Recreation Area has campgrounds, RV sites, boat ramps, hiking, bicycling and nature trails, swimming beaches, covered handicap accessible fishing docks and an amphitheater. Informational exhibits about the park’s natural and cultural resources are featured in the Travertine Nature Center.

5. Turner Falls Park I-35 & US HIGHWAY 77, DAVIS
Turner Falls is one of Oklahoma’s tallest waterfalls, dropping 77 feet into a natural swimming pool. Located on Honey Creek in the Arbuckle Mountains near Davis, Turner Falls Park draws thousands of visitors each year that enjoy swimming, hiking and camping. Turner Falls Park offers Camping Sites, RV Hookups, and Screened Shelters at nightly rates. Day Admission is from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.showclix.com/events/23873. Children 5 and under are free. Turner Falls Park does not allow pets.
