MULTIPROGRAM SHIP Sport and Cultural Platforms Carbonell, Catia, Venezuela. // 2007 (on going project)

This Project takes part on a series of interventions of cooperative urban reengineering, focalized on consolidating a network of sport, cultural spaces as new productive and formative urban models for the informal growth areas of Caracas. It’s an alternative on hybrid public spaces in geomorphological complex slums based on microsurgery operations upon the organic and spontaneous tissue of industrial slums.

The building is a Spatial apparatus that explore temporarily conditions and cultural occupation creating tactical regenerations and mobility strategies. This urban device is coupled to the main mobility systems of the favela, building relationships along the dimension of the stair in four operative strata, and providing, in the aerial space, opportunities for the deployment of diverse programs for the physical, and organizational rehabilitation of self-constructed areas of the city. The project investigates the before and the after of the building, operating over the processes that precede construction phases and the consciousness of what could produce. In that sense aiming to build less and achieve more.

The construction process itself is conceived as an territorial incremental occupation, creating a multi-level social landscape. It focuses on reviving latent natures and returning them to their original conditions. The proposal upgrades and repairs existing infrastructures and goes beyond, triggers new relations between humans, materials and natural topographies.
