A decade ago

, mainstream America’s blunt culture toked away to Afroman’s, “Because I Got High”. The humorous song, begins with true intentions of a typical day in the life of any stoner attempting to clean their room, then leads into a nucleus of menacing events such as running from the police, becoming a paraplegic then ends with one losing his wife and family and sleeping on the streets. The song indeed climaxes from a simple task to grander problems. Why? “Because, I Got High.”

The songs success grew to a Grammy nomination in 2002 and was deemed the Stoner Anthem of its time. 15 years later with a new blunt culture and the millennial generation; the song’s benchmarked on the elite list of, “Stoner Classics”.

Afroman left Los Angeles with a desire for success, really feeling the need to move in order to make substantial money, so he headed to Hattiesburg, Mississippi. “I met these girls who offered to take me to New Orleans where they were having this big rave. They had a driver’s license, some gas, and

a car. I didn’t have any of those 3 things but 2 boxes of cds. I was in the back seat, heading to New Orleans with these Mississippi Girls rocking out to Outkast – we were rolling!!”

Outside the New Orleans Rave; where the culture of ravers were predominately white college kids, Afroman stood outside for hours with his 2 boxes of cd’s and no one interested in buying them. The Mississippi Girls he arrived with had gone inside the Rave. He had no choice but to sit this party out and wait for his ride back to Hattiesburg, Mississippi. “Pretty soon I got tired of holding the boxes.

I started thinking, “Why aren’t people buying them?” “You mean to tell me, people don’t think these rhymes are good?”

“Maybe it’s time for me to get a job. Maybe cut somebody’s lawn and start making some money”. Ponderment of any starving artist, a part of the cycle. Hopeless, and out of sheer frustration, just wanting to get home, Afroman quit trying to sell the cds. Rather; he just started handing them out to kids passing by. The rave kids would leave the rave, and come outside to their cars to smoke. While, smoking in their cars, they popped into their stereos, Afro-

Man man’s hand-out cd. “I sat there depressed while all these enthusiastic people were coming back to me, introducing themselves, smiling at me and telling me how they loved the song. It felt good, and it was balancing off. At the time, I felt as if I had lost money recording in the studios, I lost money pressing up, but I was just glad people liked it so it was balancing up. Heading back to Mississippi – I was smiling even though I had no money.”

“Because I Got High” flourished outside of a New Orleans Rave on Canal Street and was an overnight success with the rave kids uploading the song on Napster, one of the first songs to become successful through the internet. Within 48 hours, Universal Records was knocking on Afroman’s door.

The rise to the top with his #1 hit single and music career happened quickly and is a story that’s been told throughout numerous interviews. Since then the marijuana culture has evolved. High times have changed to legal times. “Because I Got High” has impacted the marijuana movement with its catchy fool proof tune; where lyrics can easily be substituted and words replaced; fitting to the lazy, forgetfulness characteristics of a stereotypical stoner. In some bizarre, humorous way, Afroman’s approach has helped normalize marijuana use

So, they are getting smart. They’re legalizing it, and taxing it. It’s starting to help. Thanks to the song, they can take a more realistic and lucrative approach to it.” Afroman’s affiliation with the marijuana movement has currently inspired 2 different strains in the marketplace: “Fro G Kush” and “Fro Budget Kush”. “Fro G Kush is a top shelf strain described as loud. The louder the better”, says Afroman. “The economical “Fro Budget Kush” is for those who do not want to spend too much money. It’s not loud as loud, but it isn’t quiet either.” Afroman’s strains are hitting the San Diego market.

Being a medical facility means you’re equipped to follow patient confidentiality. No one wants their personal information falling into to the wrong hands because of malpractice.

One Man Riot with a

Million Dollar smile

Three years ago

Entertainment attorney Fred Dorton of Beverly Hills brought some “Ruckus” to the Don Magic Juan Radio Show, introducing Compton’s own funnyman Antonio Rucker to the Bishop. Immediately becoming fast friends, the Bishop has not only dubbed Mr. Rucker, “the next Richard Pryor,” but also crowned him the 2015 Don Juan Player’s Ball Comedian of the Year. How can this be?

With comedic inspirations such as Mr. Pryor, Red Foxx, Moms Mabley, and Rodney Dangerfield and mentors such as the late, great Reynaldo Rey, Katt Williams, and Luenell, it’s easy to see. Starting over 14 years ago and gracing over 300 stages including The Hard Rock Casino, The Mirage, and The Encore, Mr. Rucker began his career under the tutelage of Reynaldo Rey with the Last American Comedy Tour. The advice he was given, “It’s a tough journey, stay the course.” This advice was well received, especially in 2009 when performing for one of the first times, in front of his parents at the Hollywood Comedy Store. He stated that he saw his mother repeatedly shake her head at his use of foul language during his routine. “That was my toughest night.” Going forward he became a crowd pleaser by approaching his audience as if he knows them and is having friendly conversation. This sets him apart from many other comedians because he tries to connect with his audience on a personal level. “I’m funny all the time and I strive to make at least one person smile or laugh every day, and have for the past 33 years. It’s who I am. I really care about people, a lot. Whatever walk of life you are, I’ll connect with you if you have any type of soul.”

Mr. Rucker attributes his drive and dedication to his comedy as a direct result of his faith, religious beliefs and ironically, a past heartbreak from his dear friend, first, and only love Kiana Hammock. He stated that the impact of the breakup forever changed him and it’s something that he has never fully recovered from. In addition to being funny he would like our readers to know, “I’m much more than just a comedian.” He is also a student of the craft, spending a lot of his free time watching and studying other comedians. He supports his community by giving back time helping the homeless and being an inspiration to inner city youth. He’s been the Master of Ceremonies for the Black History Month Town Fair in Palm Springs and Long Beach multiple times and performed a private event for the 70th birthday party of 6th District Long Beach Councilman Dee Andrews. Besides, being personally mentored by and working with Reynaldo Rey, Luenell, and Katt Williams, Mr. Rucker has also worked with Mike Epps and Kevin Hart, to name a few. We asked Mr. Rucker who were the entertainers he’d most like to work with?

His enthusiastic reply included Dave Chappelle, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, George Lopez, Martin Lawrence, and the ever smoking, trash talking, Ron White. He aspires to reach performance heights of appearing on Saturday Night Live as many great comedians have.

We are confident that this aspiration will soon become a reality!

The last question we asked Mr. Rucker is the question we always ask all of our guests,’ what is your opinion of marijuana?’ “The Ruckus” stated that he has been a user and advocate of marijuana for over 24 years. He believes and supports it’s medicinal effects. As a proponent for marijuana and the 420 Book, we proudly support and hope for nothing but continued success for Antonio “The Ruckus” Rucker.

Flourless Orange Chocolate Cake Directions Preheat oven to 375°F

Ingredients 3 Four ounces Ghiradelli or fine-quality bittersweet chocolate chips (not unsweetened) 3 1/2 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter 3 1/4 cup Cannabutter or Cannaoil * 3 3/4 cup sugar 3 3 large eggs 3 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 3 Juice from 1 orange or 2 sm/medium tangerines 3 Zest from orange or tangerines 3 Powder sugar for dusting The amount of cannabis is a suggestion and can be modified according to your personal dosage and THC content in your ingredient.

Butter or spray an 8-inch round baking pan. Line with wax or parchment paper and spray/butter paper.

(You can also use bite-sized cake orbrownie pans for individual treats) Combine all butter and chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 15 second increments, stirring in between heating until melted. Should only take about 4-5 times. Do not overheat or chocolate will burn.

Add eggs and whisk well. Sift 1/2 cup cocoa powder over chocolate mixture and whisk until combined. Add your orange/tangerine juice and combine.

Pour batter into pan and bake on middle rack for 25 minutes (cake pan) about 15minutes (bite-sized pan), or until top has formed a thin crust.

Cool cake in pan on a rack for about 10 minutes. Invert onto a serving plate.

Dust cake with powder sugar and zest.

After cooling completely, cake will stay in airtight container in the fridge up to 1 week.

HOW TO GET YOUR MMJ CARD BE LEGAL!

The State of California has given a wonderful gift to patients like you by allowing access to the benefits of medical marijuana.

By following a few simple rules your purchase and use of MMJ will help keep you from a ticket and out of jail.

So you ask, how do I get a legal MMJ Recommendation? The process is simple.

Step 1

Walk-in between11:30AM to 5:30PM Monday thru Friday. No appointment is needed.

Step 2

Bring your CA driver’s license, CA photo ID, passport, or other valid form of identification, showing proof you live in California. This can be rental/lease agreement, utility bill, phone bill, DMV car registration. The document must have your name and California address. You will be asked to fill out a few simple forms describing your medical complaint, and answer a few questions. The Doctor will conduct a medical evaluation to assess your medical condition.

NOTE: You can be assured your visit will be discreet, respectful, and 100% confidential. We are HIPPA compliant. and all online patient 24/7 verification information is encrypted for your protection.) Many San Diego MMJ Clinics use a private website for 24/7 Verifications. These unsecure websites are easily hacked revealing your patient information.

Step 3

Once the Doctor has spoken with you and evaluated your complaint (and you are approved) the Doctor will hand write a detailed evaluation for inclusion in your medical records.

NOTE: A written evaluation by the Doctor is critical should you ever need to see a Judge in a court of law. The Judge must see the Doctor’s written evaluation of your complaint or your recommendation may be ruled as NOT valid. Illegal MMJ clinics DO NOT provide you a written evaluation in your medical records, leaving you open to fines or jail if found not valid by a Judge.

Step 4

Your recommendation will then be hand signed in ink by the Doctor stating that you have been evaluated and approved in our clinic for a medical condition.

NOTE: Although On-line video cam (Skype) Doctor evaluations are technically legal according to the CA Medical Board, Skype primarily only benefits patients that can’t leave their home or bed. Just remember electronic, copied and Ink Stamped Doctor Signatures, are not valid with San Diego Health & Human Services. Your Physician Statement (Recommendation) MUST be signed in PERSON by the Doctor in ink.

Always ask to see a Valid CA Medical License from the person you are seeing before spending your hard earned cash.

Your approved patient information will be included in a secure military encrypted patient verification data base (SafeAccessMD) which can be accessed 24/7/365 via phone or internet by law enforcement or dispensaries wishing to verify your approved status to purchase meds.

With your new MMJ Physician Statement/Recommendation, you will now be permitted to grow, purchase and transport medical marijuana in quantities pursuant to California legal guidelines. (An outline of these and other guidelines will be given to you by the Doctor before you leave our office) Watch for our automated text message to your smart phone advising you two weeks before the expiration of your Recommendation.
