SALES & EVENTS Tips for Using Leftover Holiday Wine Create Wine Ice Cubes If you can’t use your leftover white wine right away, pour the remaining liquid into ice trays and freeze. Next time you’re enjoying a glass, add some of the cubes to your wine to keep it cold. This trick can also work with a rosÈ or sparkling wine like Josh Cellars California RosÈ or Enza Prosecco. Using the frozen wine cubes instead of ice can prevent what you pour from becoming too watered down.

(Family Features) Whether it’s a semi-full bottle of crisp white or a half-empty bottle of leftover red, there are creative ways to make the most of unused wine after all the holiday parties come to an end. The World Wine Guys and Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits offer these ideas to help you put your leftover wine to good use this holiday season:

Wine-Based Recipes Both red and white wines can be used in a variety of different dishes from appetizers to desserts. Keep in mind that open bottles should be used within 2-3 days, so look to use your leftovers sooner rather than later. Try adding wine to a seasonal side dish like these White Wine Glazed Carrots. It can also be used as a savory addition to main courses such as this classic Red Wine Tomato Sauce.

Make Red Wine Vinegar Impress your guests by adding homemade red wine vinegar to your next dish. Add one part raw vinegar to two parts leftover red wine then store your mixture in a dark, cool place. Monitor periodically and keep testing until you get the desired vinegar smell, strain and refrigerate. Use as desired on salads and in homemade sauces and marinades.

White Wine Glazed Carrots

Recipe courtesy of Deutsch Family and the World Wine Guys, authors of “Red Wine”

• 6 medium carrots, halved lengthwise and cut into 2-inch pieces • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil • 1-1/2 cups water

In medium-size pot, heat olive oil. Add onion and saute 4 minutes then add minced garlic and saute 1 minute. Add tomatoes, wine, vinegar, red pepper, sea salt, oregano, thyme and basil; reduce heat and simmer about 40 minutes.

In large skillet, combine carrots and olive oil; add water. Cook over medium-high heat until carrots are tender. Add honey and white wine; cook and stir 2 minutes until carrots are glazed. Add salt and pepper, to taste.

Red Wine Tomato Sauce

• 1 teaspoon olive oil • 1 medium onion, finely chopped • 3 cloves garlic, minced • 1 can whole, peeled tomatoes • 1/8 cup Villa Pozzi Nero D’Avola • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

• 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper • 1/2 teaspoon dried sea salt • 1/2 teaspoon oregano • 1/2 teaspoon thyme • 1/2 teaspoon basil

• 1 tablespoon honey • 2 tablespoons Barone Fini Pinot Grigio • salt and pepper to taste

WHAT IS TRUTH? Celebrations are a wonderful part of life & why we celebrate is important. At this time of year much of the world wants to celebrate December 25th; is it because they are excited about the Son of God who was born into the world, who died for their crimes against God & then was raised from the dead for their Justification before our Creator? The answer is actually; No! Most people do not much care about our Great God & Savior Jesus Christ or what He requires of humanity. To them it is just another reason for a party. “But God commends His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, (law breakers) Christ died for us.” This promise is for all, who will believe. I ask that you might consider today, that it is God who gives us life and breath. So then let us Celebrate what our Great God has done, in providing a Savior so that we can be in right standing before Him. This Salvation is for all those who will obey The Savior of the world, Jesus Christ. Lets not just celebrate the fulfilment of God’s word in the birth of a Savior, but of His continuing Life. As He ever lives to make intercession for His People. To know more, read the Holy Bible and may God bless you with “The Truth.” Opportunity Baptist Church, 13620 E Broadway, Spokane valley. 509‑928‑ 2260 or www.OpportunityBaptist.org READER ADVISORY The national trade association we belong to has purchased classifieds in this publication. City Offers Free Curbside Pickup of Holiday Trees

Options for Recycling gift wrap & packaging too

Spokane---With the holiday season wrapping up the City is offering solution to help you clean up. Citizens have several options to get rid of their trees, and the City also has tips to dispose of the ribbons, tags, boxes, and bags. The City’s Solid Waste Collection Department will offer free curbside pickup for its customers Tuesday, Dec. 26, through Friday, Jan. 12. Once the decorations are removed, residents can place their fresh-cut trees at least three feet away from the refuse and recycling carts on their regularly scheduled garbage pickup days. No artificial or flocked trees for this service. The City will accept trees up to 6 feet in height; if they’re taller than that, cut them in half. Loose branches may be bundled next to the tree not to exceed six feet. Trees collected curbside will be chipped and composted. For information, call the City at 3-1-1 (or 509-755-2489 if calling outside the City). City and County residents also can take their undecorated, unflocked trees for disposal to: • Waste-to-Energy Facility, 2900 S. Geiger Blvd. Open 7: 30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. • Spokane Valley Transfer Station, 3941 N. Sullivan Road. Open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. • North County Transfer Station, 22123 ElkChattaroy Road. Open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Again, trees taller than 6 feet should be cut in half. Trees taken to these facilities are subject to the minimum charge for clean green disposal; they will be composted. For more information, call the Recycling Hotline at 509-477-6800. The facilities will be closed January 1. Residents also should watch for opportunities to dispose of trees and help a good cause. Scouts, school groups, and other charitable organizations will dispose of trees for a donation. Meanwhile, much holiday packaging material is recyclable and can go into blue recycling carts. Gift wrap, except for metallic foil paper and cellophane, is recyclable, along with cardboard boxes and wrapping paper rolls. Styrofoam, plastic bags, plastic wrap, gift bags, and tissue paper should go in the brown refuse carts. Remember, the City’s garbage pickup and curbside recycling will be a day late the week of January 1, with Friday service occurring on Saturday.

PERSONALS Telephone IRS Scam and Email Death Threat Scam in Spokane

Spokane -The Spokane Police Department and Crime Check have received reports of scams occurring in our community. Don’t be a victim to these ongoing fraudulent schemes. IRS Scam The telephone IRS scam is a voicemail that threatens the recipient with a lawsuit against the recipient’s name and claims an arrest warrant has been issued. They request you immediately call them back to discuss the case file. A government agency does not leave a computer generated, generic threatening message. The phone number, 310616-5097, is NOT an official IRS phone number. If you ever have any doubt about the authenticity of an IRS phone call you can reach them at 844545-5640. Email Death Threat Scam There has been at least one victim of the email death threat scam here in Spokane. The scammer’s goal is to prey on the victim’s fear by threatening to kill them unless a ransom is paid. They claim they will terminate the operation if the demands, a $10,000 payment, are met. Here is the actual email language from our local incident: “Someone ask me to kill you. For your information I am not sending this message with my email address and internet service provider just in case you want to proof smart and stubborn.. any ways I like someone like that! Because I will be so happy to put a bullet on your skull.. My boys have been watching your steps for few days. I am giving you a chance to live simply because my oracle show me that you dont have a hand in what you were accused of You are to pay me $10,000 and I shall terminate the operation, after that I will give you the info of the person that wants you dead. This is my last operation so I don’t have anything to lose if I reveal the sender. I have gotten all I wanted to start a new life reply or choose to ignore and get killed. This is not by force! You can call the authority and have them do patrol in your area 24/7 that didn’t stop me from hunting you and your love ones down. We are invisible!! Reply to this email address BOTH: Brandon.baculpo@gmail.com garytarka@gmail.com” If you receive either of these scams report them to the Internet Crime Complaint Center. https:// www.ic3.gov

As an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course instructor for the Sheriff’s Office, I have been exposed to just about every type of mishap that can occur related to the driving task. Most people don’t realize that, from a statistics standpoint, operating a motor vehicle is one of the most dangerous activities that Americans do every day. The sobering fact is, over 30,000 people per year (on average) lose their lives in traffic collisions, and that’s just in the U.S. alone. So, let’s discuss some strategies that everyone can use to help prevent putting ourselves in unnecessary danger. Keep in mind that, while some extra care and caution in the winter months is good, many of the following tips are useful all year! Take Care of Your Vehicle! Vehicles that are not properly cared for put us at increased risk for trouble. Tires should be checked at least monthly for proper treadwear and inflation pressure. Not only will this give your car the best grip possible, but tires will last longer and fuel economy will be maximized. Don’t forget to check the spare, too! Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations found in your vehicle owner’s manual. Before it gets too cold, check the condition of your vehicles battery/charging system, as well as the cooling system. A large portion of cold weather failures can be directly attributed to these systems, and a qualified service technician can check them very quickly. This is also a great time to check those wiper blades, and all of your lighting equipment. Being able to see is a very, very good thing when that dirty rain and snow stick to the windshield. Time Management OK folks, this one should be elementary, but law enforcement personnel continuously respond to collisions where speed was a contributing factor. Get in the habit of leaving the house just a few minutes earlier during those winter months. You will be AMAZED at how much less stressed you will be when arriving to work or school, simply because you didn’t have to hurry in order to avoid being late. Using this system, I usually arrive a few minutes early to wherever I’m going. Not only do I get a better parking spot this way, I use those few minutes to return phone calls or texts that I received while I was driving. Everybody wins! It’s also helpful to check the weather forecast for your projected commute time the day before, so you can determine just how much extra time might be needed. On the Road We know our vehicle is ready to go, and we have given ourselves some extra time for the drive. Nothing left to do now, except the most dangerous part. Once in motion, pay full attention to the driving task. Put down the electronic device, and ignore it if it makes noise. It will still be there when you arrive safely at your destination.

Obey the rules of the road, as set forth in title 46.61 of the Revised Code of Washington. Just about every person that I have ever stopped for a traffic violation has told me, I didn’t know I couldn’t do that, or I wasn’t paying attention. Folks, these are laws, not suggestions, and they’re in place for a very good reason: SAFETY! Your vehicle is equipped with blinkers, and you need to activate them at least 100 feet prior to any turn or lane change. People failing to signal properly is the cause of many collisions that I myself have investigated over the years. Do it all the time, even if you don’t see other vehicles, and it will become a very safe habit. Letting others know your intentions is a great way to avoid having them block your path. I’ve already mentioned speed, but it’s worth revisiting because it’s also very often a contributing factor to collisions involving injury. I’m about to tell you how to go the rest of your life without a speeding ticket. Ready? Here goes, watch for speed limit signs, and obey them. It’s really that simple! As the operator of a vehicle, it’s up to you to know what the posted speed limit is, at all times. Again, the numbers on those signs are not suggestions. They are the maximum speed allowed by law for that particular roadway! I have had the unfortunate task of responding to many collisions involving serious injuries and fatalities, and I can tell you how unsettling it is to experience. Also, it’s up to you to adjust your speed for conditions. You might be traveling on a road with a posted speed limit of 45 MPH, but if it’s icy, and dark, and there’s other traffic, it’s prudent to lower your speed so that you can safely maintain control of your vehicle. Give yourself some space, and don’t “tailgate” or follow other vehicles too closely. A good rule of thumb is one car length for every ten miles per hour of speed. Which means, if you’re on the interstate doing 70 MPH and you’re only two car lengths behind the vehicle in front of you, you’re too close. Again, this is the cause of many collisions. Also, when stopping in traffic, bring your vehicle to rest where you can still see the tires on the car in front of you. Two benefits here: first, if your vehicle is struck from behind, it reduces the chance that it will get pushed into the car in front of you. Second, that amount of space is usually enough to make an evasive maneuver if necessary, leaving you an out if you need to turn around. Listening to music through headphones, driving with your dog on your lap, smoking or vaping, applying makeup/grooming, reading a book, eating a bowl of cereal (using both hands), dangling an arm or leg out an open window, dancing. These are just some of the things I’ve seen people do while driving a car on a public roadway. This type of behavior is incredibly dangerous, regardless of the time of year or weather conditions! Yes, you could also be cited for these activities, so if you do any of these things, keep that in mind. More importantly, ask yourself if any of these activities are worth the safety or well-being of yourself or other people.

Be Safe, Everyone!

During winter, many people plan vacations to warmer climates so they can enjoy a relaxing respite from the snow and ice. While travelers are enjoying the sand and surf, their homes may be in danger from extreme weather conditions. According to the State Farm Insurance Company, frozen water pipes affect a quarter-million families each winter. Both copper and plastic pipes can freeze. State Farm notes that a single 1⁄8-inch crack in a pipe can result in up to 250 gallons of water leakage per day. Flood water can contribute to serious structural damage, mold and a host of other problems. Water expands as it freezes, so pipes can be put under strain if the pressure from expanding water has nowhere to go, offers the American Red Cross. Pipes that tend to freeze most frequently include those exposed to severe cold, such as outdoor hose bibs, swimming pool lines and water sprinkler systems. However, even pipes inside a home, such as those in unheated areas or those that run against exterior walls, can freeze. To avoid returning from a relaxing winter escape to find a home in need of repair thanks to frozen pipes, homeowners can take these steps.

• Add insulation to attics, basements and crawl spaces to help maintain higher temperatures within the areas where some water pipes may run. • Pipes themselves can be insulated with special coverings or sleeves. Homeowners also can explore heat tape or wrap pipes in heat cables controlled by their thermostats. • Disconnect outdoor hoses, and drain water from pipes leading to outdoor faucets. Turn off the indoor valve to shut off the water supply to the outdoors, but leave the outdoor bib in the “open” position to allow water to drip and relieve pressure should some freezing occur. • The same technique can be applied indoors. A trickle of hot and cold water can keep pipes from freezing during extremely cold snaps of weather. • Set the thermostat to a consistent temperature, ensuring that the temperature indoors will not drop dramatically overnight. The temperature should be no less than 55 F. • Open cabinet doors to allow heat to reach under sinks and appliances. • Check around the house for drafty areas that can contribute to colder temperatures in garages, basements and crawl spaces. • Consider relocating pipes that are exposed to the elements to provide increased protection. • Ask a neighbor to periodically check on the house to ensure that pipes are in good working order. Homeowners who know where the main water shut-off valve in their homes is located and who act quickly can prevent serious damage should a pipe burst. In such instances, leaks can be contained and extinguished as quickly as possible.

Keeping your Pet Safe Despite the Cold

Ten Tips for Winter From SCRAPS No one wants an icicle for a pet -- they’re simply not that cuddly. If your pet spends most of the time in the backyard, please change your routine and keep (s)he indoors during the freezing months. 1. Bare Naked Truth If you must keep your pet outdoors, consider this: Your pet’s fur coat isn’t enough protection for your pet during winter. Be a pal and provide your dog with a warm, dry, and draft free shelter outside. SCRAPS has free dog houses available. We also accept gently used dog houses. 2. No More Frozen Dinners! Because it takes more energy to stay warm when it’s cold, outdoor animals eat more during the winter. Likewise, fresh, running water is vital for maintaining your pet’s health. Keep an eye on the water bowls and make sure they haven’t turned into little skating rinks. 3. Latest Fad Diet? Indoor animals have different dietary needs. They conserve energy by sleeping more in the winter. Dogs and cats also exercise much less when they do go outside, so you may need to adjust the amount of food accordingly. No one wants an overweight pet. 4. Be Careful with Cars Warm engines in parked cars attract cats and small wildlife, who may crawl up under the hood. To avoid injuring any hidden animals, bang on your car’s hood to scare them away before starting your engine.

GEMAN SHEPHERD PUPPIES Ready for their new home, parents on site, vaccinated & wormed. Father AKC European bloodline, mother non‑registered purebred. Beautiful pups males & females available $470. Inquiries call/ text 5092944720 Spokane

DOG OF THE WEEK Cookie (36728713) is ready to play! She would love to go for a run, jog, or hike with you! She has tons of energy and is looking for an outlet for it. She needs that special person to exercise with and who will teach her a thing or two about life. Small kids probably won’t be the best for her considering she is very high energy and wants to play with anything. Kennel life is rough for a hyper girl like her, so she is having treadmill sessions daily until she finds her perfect furrever home.

6. Avoid Antifreeze Antifreeze is a deadly poison, but it has a sweet taste that may attract animals and children. Wipe up spills and store antifreeze (and all household chemicals) out of reach. Better yet, use antifreezecoolant made with propylene glycol; if swallowed in small amounts, it will not hurt pets, wildlife, or your family. Read more about pets and antifreeze. 7. Bone Chilling No matter what the temperature, wind chill can threaten a pet’s life. Be sure to check not only the temperature outside, but the wind chill as well. The wind can lower the temperature 10 even 20 degrees causing serious problems for your pet. 8. Season for Serious Concern Regardless of the season, shorthaired, very young, or old dogs and all cats should never be left outside without supervision during low temperatures. NEVER! Let your pet out to go to the bathroom and then get them inside immediately.

CAT OF THE WEEK Mollie (37064026) is a shy girl trying to make the best of her shelter stay. She is very curious and interested in the new people she sees from her window perch, but she becomes fearful when it’s time to engage. Unfamiliar people are frightening to Mollie, as she has only lived with one person that she knew and loved before now. The best thing to do is to hang out in Purris with her until she feels comfortable enough to come up to you. She really is the sweetest girl, she just needs someone to give her a chance! Can you give her that? OperationDogTag.org Upon listening to a radio program revealing that 6,000 precious veterans committed suicide in 2010 from the effects of combat experience, Operation Dog Tag became Joe Scheffer’s vision. As a veteran with the US Marine Corps, he brought to the table his understanding as a combat veteran and his experience as a professional dog trainer. From these humble beginnings came Operation Dog Tag, a Spokane based organization under Point Man International Ministries. The program instructs veterans to train qualied service dogs to meet the critical needs of other combat veterans, by providing assistance with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, crutches, canes, walkers or those who are wheelchair bound. Joe was given permission to speak with various veterans’ groups, and the psychiatric oor of the VA Hospital. They too, saw the great potential. Operation Dog Tag is determined to help veterans and their families begin living their lives again by “making man’s best friend even better for a veteran.” Joe hopes that suffering veterans can have a “new day, new hope, and new joy” as unconditional love leads the way. Operation Dog Tag is hoping for a van in order to transport vets or dogs, making it easier to help those unable to provide their own transportation. They would also appreciate any help in attaining items such as products to rafe off, a computer, wheelchairs, dogs that might qualify and volunteers to place phone calls. For more information, call Joe Scheffer at 509-276-4364 or visit OperationDogTag.org

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF OPERATION DOG TAG As the Director/Trainer of Operation Dog Tag, and a Vietnam vet USMC, I wish to thank Mr. Gene Gonzales of Moses Lake for his generous and loving donation of 2 wheelchairs and 2 walkers with wheels. These will be used for the training of dogs. We are hoping others in the community will also help us to sponsor a veteran recipient of one of these special dogs.

The veterans are given these dogs at no cost, So please help us help our veterans by donating to: Gesa Credit Union 9625 N Newport Hwy Spokane, WA 99218 or phone it in to 509-378-3100 or Pointman Int’l Ministries (DBA Operation Dog Tag) PO Box 1892 Deer Park, WA 99006

Dedicated to all men and women who served in combat and their families who love them. Operation Dog Tag wishes to educate the community of their purpose and asks for help in aiding the returning veterans along with the ones that are already struggling at home. And we veterans thank you as we continue “Making Man’s Best Friend Even Better For A Veteran” - Joe Scheffer, Director

Creature Feature HOGNOSE SNAKES

A fairly common snake native to North America, particularly the central United States, the Hognose Snake is famous for its defensive theatrics. To escape a threat, these snakes will do everything from hissing and flattening out its head so it resembles a cobra, to striking at persistent threats, to dramatically flipping itself over and playing dead. This comical reptile is quickly becoming a favorite pet.

FishinG rEport

CDA/North Fork: Good – San Juan worms are working very well right now and lots of trout are being caught. The beaded San Juan’s seem to be working better as they are slightly heavier and have flash. Clark Fork: Good – Great fishing! Anglers are catching many fish on many different bugs. Good patterns to be using are prince nymphs and stonefly nymphs. Clearwater: Anglers are still catching a few keeper steelhead less than 28 inches. Dark colored jigs have been working the best. Columbia River: Good – Lots of anglers are using corky’s and yarn for steelhead. Anglers have reported the fishing to be slowing down and the bite to not be as prominent. An egg pattern would still be your best bet right now. Grande Ronde: This river is an iced up mess. The banks are frozen and there is a lot of slush in the river. Most of the fish have moved to the confluence of the Snake until it clears. Little Spokane River: Average – BWO’s, and midges are great flies to be using right now. Anglers have reported catching nice, healthy rainbows when working a fly similar to these. Rocky Ford Creek: Fishing should be good from now until spring. Streamers, scuds, midges and nymphs will bring the best results. Snake River: The river is fishable but cold, so get your offerings close to the bottom as possible to catch your fish. Bass fishing is still on. Spokane River: Good – Soft hackles and pheasant tail-nymphs (flash) are great bugs to be throwing right now. Look for deep pools and remember to mend your line towards the end of your swing. St. Joe River: Average – Cold weather makes for some tough fishing but a good fly to be throwing right now is a streamer or some kind of wooly bugger. Yakima River: No recent reports. Amber Lake: Closed for the season. Badger/Williams Lake: Closed for the season. Banks Lake: Good – Walleye are being caught off bottom walker rigs and smile blades. Try trolling very slow as the cold water will inhibit the

movements of most fish. Clear Lake: Closed for the season. Downs Lake: Closed for the season. Eloika Lake: Average – Bass are being caught on jerk baits and the lake is more fishable now that the weed mats are receding. Ice is starting to form on the lake but is very unsafe. Hauser Lake: Average – Ice has started to form but no feedback on tiger muskie. Lake CDA: Average – Fishing has slowed and the water is cold. Ice is forming in several of the bays but not thick enough to be on. Lake Roosevelt: Good – Some big fish are being caught slow trolling flies, Wedding Rings, and hoochie baits. Make sure you are tipping your hooks with nightcrawlers and/or corn. Long Lake: Average – Anglers have reported the fishing by Willow Bay to be very good. Trout, walleye and some smallmouth bass are being caught. Try using a Wedding Ring or a crankbait to catch them. Loon Lake: Closed for the season. Newman Lake: Average – Anglers have reported having to break a thin layer of ice when launching a boat and the fishing hasn’t been great. A local fisherman reported catching a few bass on lipless crank baits. Pend Oreille: Good – With the cold weather we’ve been having the lake trout bite has really picked up. Small silver swimbaits are working very well. Silver Lake: Average – Ice has started to form but fishing has been slow. Not many bass or tiger muskie are being caught. Sprague Lake: Ice is starting to form on the lake but there is still open water. No reports on how the fishing is. Waitts Lake: Good – Powerbait off the bottom is working well right now for rainbows and the occasional brown. Anglers are catching fish right from the shoreline. West Medical Lake: Closed for the season.

PRIORITIES 1, 2 & 3 Limited plowing for 1-3 inches of snow as conditions warrant, focusing on problem areas and hillsides. Full plowing when snow exceeds 4 inches. Deicing begins whenever snow, ice or frost is predicted, with liquid deicing on bridges, arterial intersections and hillsides. Granular deicer may be used on arterial streets as conditions warrant.

PRIORITY 4 Plowing considered when functional traffic flow is inhibited. Deicing occurs at controlled intersections and selected problem areas as needed.

Realtors® are often asked by potential sellers what they would recommend to be fixed prior to the seller putting their home on the market. There are no pat answers to those types of questions because each property is different, every circumstance is different and every Realtor® has a different style or take on that question. Some are motivated to just get a sale, so asking the seller to spend, spend, spend is the first recommendation they make. Of course any home sells faster and usually at top dollar when everything is in tip-top shape, but is spending a lot of money on fix-up items really what is best for the seller’s bottom line? Every year the NationalAssociation of Realtors® prints a cost-vs-value report that compares local pricing to the national average for certain home repairs and calculates the approximate return of investment for the homeowner if they do certain repairs. For example; in the Pacific Northwest the average cost of insulating an attic was $1,406 with a resale value of $1,726. That means that the homeowner could recoup 122.8% of their money spent. The statistics for most other repairs aren’t that favorable for the homeowner! The average cost return for a bathroom remodel was only 70% of value spent. Items such as deck addition, kitchen remodel, master bedroom remodel, and siding replacement showed a similar poor return on investment. In other words you probably won’t get your money back on most remodel investments. But look on the bright side! You get to use those improvements until your home sells and it may make your home sell faster! Those are all things to consider when you are weighing the cost-to-value benefits of any remodel. Keep in mind that remodeling or upgrading quality of materials are a different concept than fixing broken items such as windows or water damage or worn flooring. Repairing items like those (deferred maintenance) is like fixing the brakes on your car. It doesn’t make it worth any more, but is certainly necessary! The top 5 items on the list (in terms of good return on investment) from the recent study shows that attic insulation, entry door replacement, adding stone veneer, adding an upper story room or garage door replacement were the most cost effective upgrades. Most of those still showed a loss when it comes to resale value. I guess the moral of the story is, be careful when others try to get you to spend money just so they can get a sale!
