42 Years & The Spokane Home & Garden Show Continues To Blossom & Bloom! Every spring for the past 42 years the Spokane Convention Center is taken over by gardening, landscaping, flooring and roofing vendors alike for the Spokane Home & Garden Show. This year is no exception. The 42nd annual event is presented by the Spokane Home Builders Association (SHBA) and sponsored by BECU and will be at the Spokane Convention Center April 13-15.
There will be no shortage of vendors bringing their best deals and goods for home owners, renters and dreamers alike to peruse and perhaps purchase. As well as, the popular Barrels & Brews date night event returns Friday night with more local and regional craft breweries and wineries taking part in the fun. Headlining the seminars this year is DIY Network and HGTV star, Matt Blashaw of Yard Crashers. Ticket prices for this show are, Adults: $8; Senior & Military: $6; Kids 12 & Under: Free with parent. Featured Speaker: Matt Blashaw of DIY Yard Crashers Licensed contractor Matt Blashaw is everything you want in a versatile handyman and then some. His home improvement company once used the slogan “One Call Fixes It All” and Matt made a point of always delivering on that promise. So how does a guy this young get to be this good? Easy - he grew up in a lumberyard! A native of Orange County, California, Matt spent his teen years working at his father’s lumberyard before graduating from Chapman University. He then moved on to a variety of jobs in the construction and entertainment industries. A stint with the technical services group at Disney taught him about show effects and electrical installation. Today, when he’s not sharing his expertise with DIY Network
viewers, Matt works as a Realtor and develops and builds homes in Orange County. Matt takes a fearless approach to home remodeling and says he’s never afraid to make mistakes. After all, that’s often when he learns the most. If you’re thinking about taking on a do-it-yourself project, take his advice and just go for it. Matt hosts HGTV’s “Professional Grade” in addition to DIY Network’s “Money Hunters”, “Deconstruction” and “Project Xtreme”. Matt will be presenting “Dream It, Build It...Designing The Backyard Of Your Dreams” on Saturday and Sunday, as well as a meet and greet autograph session with his fans.

Friday, April 13th • 3:00pm Landscape architect and plant expert, Clyde Haase, will share his wealth of knowledge of which local plants, trees, shrubs & flowers are best for our environment. Clyde Haase has been a registered landscape architect since 1970 (Washington State License #34) and has been president of the Spokane Chapter - Washington State’s Nurseryman’s Association, as well as served as the president of the state level of WSNLA. He has served as a board member on the Building Industry Association, was president of the Spokane East Rotary Club, Vice President of the Valley Chamber of Commerce and president of the Interstate Fair Board. Clyde was elected Spokane County freeholder and has been appointed to the Spokane County Planning Commission. He has received state landscape awards for his winning designs of bench work, light, garden pools and landscapes.

Preserving existing interior design is also far easier when utilizing ductless mini-splits. This is due to the indoor units providing a number of placement options, which you can’t find with other types of add-on systems. From wall mounted units to ceiling cassettes to floor consoles, ductless units come in all shapes and sizes and they are exceptionally inconspicuous. Often where a window AC unit or baseboard heating would be considered, ductless mini splits solve both needs. It’s not the polished brass of the 80s, don’t worry! These refined & elegant finishes add a warmth and richness.
