Junior Immanuel Jones is the only Franklin College student so far to win the Student Entertainment Board’s event, FC’s Got Talent. Both years, Jones choreographed and preformed his own dance routine. But for this year’s performance, Jones said he changed his routine entirely. “I just did a lot more moves this year than I did last year,” he said. Jones won last year, the first year that SEB hosted the event, and, on Tuesday night, he won for the second year in a row. “I was very surprised that I won, because I thought that the (Beasley) band would get it,” Jones said. “It’s a blessing that I won.” Students in attendance at the event were impressed with Jones’ performance. “I’ve never seen anyone dance like that before in my life; it’s just amazing,” sophomore Connor McNeely said. Second place winners Nathan, Zach and Issac Beasley performed a medley of songs by artists ranging from Taylor Swift to Journey while third place winners Jesse
“I feel music. When I listen to music, I feel it in my body. So when I pick the songs, I feel like (they) show my musical expression through my body.” Immanuel Jones, junior and talent show winner Hamilton and Brandy Ramaj covered Johnny Cash’s “Jackson.” Judges who decided the winners of the $50, $75 and $150 prizes were Terri Roberts, coordinator of diversity and inclusion; Wes Howell, wellness coordinator; and Rachel Richards, residence hall coordinator. The event lasted around an hour and a half and many students attended. Bri Humphries, a junior and SEB president, said the event is so popular because people like to come and cheer on their friends. “I think it’s one of those things where it gives us a chance to really take advantage of the entertainment here on our campus,” Humphries said. “It’s nice to go out and hire someone, but at the same time, it’s really nice that we have (student talent) on campus (to) showcase See “Talent show” on Page 11
