About Us
Membership
The Australasian Corrosion Association Inc (ACA) is a non-profit membership based organisation akin to a ‘learned society’. The ACA was established in 1955 to service the needs of Australian and New Zealand companies, organisations and individuals involved in the fight against corrosion. It is dedicated to ensuring all aspects of corrosion are responsibly managed, protecting the environment and ensuring public safety. ACA members are drawn from a wide cross section of industries united by their common interest – to reduce the impact of corrosion in Australasia.
Membership of the ACA is available to anyone with an interest in corrosion and its control. Members are diverse and multi-disciplinary, including engineers, technicians, consultants, managers, coating specialists, contractors, researchers, suppliers, students and more. Members belong to a range of industries such as oil & gas, mining, water, government, defence, energy, building, manufacturing and others.

Membership Categories Individual Members Individual membership is available to anyone who has an interest in corrosion and its control. Student Members Available for full time undergraduate or postgraduate students. Retired Members Available for persons who have retired from full time employment. Life Members Awarded by the ACA Council for meritorious service to the Corrosion Industry. Honorary Members Awarded by ACA Branch committees for meritorious service to the Corrosion Industry.
Corporate Membership ACA corporate membership comprises of a choice of four levels: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. All levels of corporate membership receive the benefits of membership as previously described, however ACA corporate members also receive extra services and corporate member-only benefits as detailed below.

Training Courses The ACA offers a variety of training courses providing the most up-to-date corrosion control information available today and they are designed to produce competently trained personnel in a variety of corrosion related fields. Lectured by corrosion professionals with many years of practical experience, courses range from one-day basic corrosion courses to more intensive five-day courses. Course subjects covered include corrosion technology, corrosion and protection of reinforced concrete, protective coatings and cathodic protection.

Technical Groups

The ACA Technical Groups provide a structure for technical activities within a segment of industry or technical expertise. ACA Technical Groups unite members from diverse professional backgrounds in common purpose to maintain currency of technical knowledge, to disseminate information to ACA membership, to provide an open forum for discussion, debate and support between members and to assist in driving the development of Standards relevant to its Industry. The Young Corrosion Group serves the purpose of organising events of value to under 35's and those new to the corrosion industry. It aims to provide a platform of access to information and networks which are of benefit to personal, professional or business development.

Annual Conference The ACA’s Annual Conference features a comprehensive programme of technical papers, technical group forums, an exhibition, the opportunity to network and debate with industry leaders and international experts, as well as offering sponsorship and promotional opportunities. The Annual Conference also includes a great social programme of events for delegates and partners.
Technical Events Each year a calendar of events is programmed to include a seminar series and technical group meetings. The technical group meetings provide an open forum for discussion, debate and support within a segment of industry or technical expertise.
Publications Corrosion & Materials is published bi-monthly and distributed to ACA members and other interested parties. Each issue features a range of news, information, articles, profiles and peer reviewed technical papers.
Branch Meetings Each Branch of the ACA holds regular technical meetings designed to educate, stimulate debate and provide an opportunity to network with corrosion colleagues in your local area.
Corrosion Control Directory Located on the ACA website, suppliers of corrosion control products and services have the opportunity to list their company information and contact details in the ‘Corrosion Control Directory’. The directory is designed to assist those seeking to locate an expert in the various fields of corrosion prevention in their local area.
Information, Technical Papers & Library

The Arthur Kennett Memorial Award, Marshall Fordham Best Research Paper Award and the David Whitby Best Review Paper Award are awards based on technical papers presented at the Annual Conference or published in Corrosion & Materials. Research and best industry practice are encouraged by a number of other awards.
ACA Foundation Limited ACA Foundation Ltd. exists for the purpose of advancing corrosion mitigation through education by awarding and conducting; scholarships and bursaries, awards for academic excellence, future leader development within the corrosion industry and special projects to the broader community throughout Australasia. The Scholarship Fund of ACA Foundation Limited has tax deductibility status and relies on donations from companies and individuals to fund its initiatives.
