G Feedback about the AIM products through testimonials from Members and Customers continues to celebrate the benefits of nutrition that works as a healthy lifestyle choice. AIM is proud to present Mellara Gold on the cover of November Living Well magazine and her testimonial about “Life With BarleyLife: From Past to Present” within the pages of this issue, along with backup from “BarleyLife Bits” that feature testimonial snippets from a variety of social media sources.

Being well into the depths of the autumn season means we are about to officially face winter weather. This November issue gets ahead of the coming freeze with proactive steps for “Winterizing Your Body” to help you stay healthy throughout the coldest months of the year. Whether practical moves to stay warm and protected or nutritional boosts to remain strong and healthy, AIM wants to keep you covered. With the onset of winter just around the corner comes the season of holidays that tends to dominate the last month of the year. This month’s magazine also helps you to be prepared well in advance with “AIM Gifts for the Holiday Season Ahead” that can make a healthy difference in people’s lives. A major part of the nutritional excellence of the AIM products comes down to the selection of high-quality ingredients. This issue includes a focus on ingredient trios: Firstly, “Going Cocoa” examines the three different types of cocoa powders that make CoCoa LeafGreens such a tastily healthy choice for chocolaty beverages that do your body good. Secondly, “Asking About Fit ’n Fiber” answers questions about acacia, guar gum and konjac: three sources of prebiotic fiber that are so good for you and your microbiome. Thirdly, the “Fresh Focus on GarlicAIM” gets to the heart of the ingredient trio of top-notch types of garlic that create yet another of the unique natural health products that AIM is noted for offering. On the business side, “AIM Deep” examines how both Members and Customers can talk up the benefits of the AIM products they use. Their voices can have a positive influence on the health of others simply by letting people know what AIM has to offer. “Reaching the Top” records the upper-tier financial rewards of sharing the AIM products in a home-based business—an opportunity for Members as well as Customers who decide to move into Member mode. All of the above is fodder for this month’s crossword puzzle. And if you’re puzzled about past whisperings of something new in the works, let’s just say the whispers will grow louder in future issues of Living Well magazine. AIM Ingredients

Going Cocoa CoCoa LeafGreens is one of AIM’s standalone products among all of the nutrition that works. Adding three types of cocoa powders to a leafy-green blend created an appealing, chocolate-flavored mix. Most importantly, cocoa powders are nutrient-dense CoCoa LeafGreens 6381E, $41.00 M, $43.50 C with B vitamins and minerals and antioxidant-rich with (CAN 6570E, $42.75 M, $45.50 C) plant compounds that fall under the collective umbrella of polyphenols, specifically flavonoids. The end result is that these cocoa powders nutritionally support good health. The cocoa beans used to make each of the cocoa powders are actually the nutritious seeds in the fruit of the cacao tree (Theobroma cacao). These “chocolate” trees grow in a narrow band of land called the cocoa belt, which lies 20 degrees north and south of the equator. A single fruit from the cacao tree contains around 35 – 50 seeds surrounded by a sweet pulp that is encased in a pod. Once cacao seeds are harvested, they undergo fermentation by means of natural microbes that use the pulp and its sugars as an energy source. The seeds are then cleaned and dried and, once the casings are removed, roasted so that they can be ground into a paste, often referred to as chocolate mass. To extract the cocoa powder, the paste is mechanically pressed to remove most of the cocoa butter (fat). Essentially, this is the transition of cocoa “beans” to powder. The choice of three cocoa powders delivers a balanced blend of earthy and bitter organic cacao, chocolate-rich organic cocoa and smooth Dutch cocoa. This chocolaty abundance melds temptingly with the nutritious, green powders of barley leaf, arugula, broccoli sprouts, kale, spinach and Swiss chard to create one-of-a-kind CoCoa LeafGreens.

Winterizing Your Body

With the onset of cold weather in North America, depending where you are on the continent, the temperatures are only heading downward in the months ahead. The changes can be gradual or sudden on any given day. Individuals respond differently to temperature fluctuations, but generally people in good health take up to two weeks to adjust to a sizeable increase or decrease in degrees. However, this adjustment process tends to be slower in the cold.¹

Baby, It’s Cold Outside

The chilling effects of winter can affect your health in obvious and not so obvious ways. Wearing warm clothes and footwear protects you from the huge temperature drop as soon as you step outside. This is especially important for older adults, who are more susceptible to having their body temperatures drop too low (hypothermia) from prolonged exposure, even to mild cold weather.² Another obviously risky effect on your health is the slippery conditions outdoors, so take your time walking and wear footwear that grips the ground like winter tires. Otherwise, you can lose your balance,

slip on icy roads or sidewalks and come crashing to the ground. Along with the embarrassment of falling in a public place, falls can cause different degrees of injuries, including bruises, cuts, fractures, broken bones or head injuries. One of the not so obvious effects that winter can have on your well-being goes straight to the heart. Not being properly dressed for cold temperatures may bring on shallow breathing, constricted blood vessels and slightly thickened blood, all of which can increase stress on your cardiovascular system.³ Another not so obvious cold effect is related to your nose. The myth that cold weather causes colds and flus has been further dispelled by “nosy” research. It turns out that in the lining of your nose, there are tiny sacs filled with fluid (extracellular vesicles) that swarm invading viruses to prevent them from entering the respiratory tract. But freezing temperatures drop the presence of these nasal protectors by 42 percent.⁴

Furthermore, nose vesicles have surface receptors that viruses stick to, which allows these pathogens to be eliminated in nasal mucus. But the number of surface receptors is reduced in the cold, so viruses bind to cells in your nose. In other words, the change in temperature compromises your nasal immune system, leading to the onset of colds and flus. Winterizing by covering your mouth and nose with a scarf or mask keeps the temperature in your nose warm enough to keep nasal vesicles defending you.

AIM for Winterizing Inside Out

On the outside, dry winter air can suck the natural moisture from your skin. The daily use of astaxanthin has been shown to improve skin moisture, so taking the nutricosmetic BioVivify can help in winterizing your skin from the cold. On the inside, doubling down on AIM’s nutrient-dense, whole-food powders adds nutritional support for your immune system. Taking CoCoa LeafGreens or the Garden Trio’s BarleyLife, Just Carrots and RediBeets floods your body with nutrients and phytonutrients, many of which protect cells as antioxidants and help promote immune-cell growth and activity.⁵ Studies reveal that being undernourished puts people at a greater risk of illnesses caused by pathogenic bacteria and viruses.⁶

Proancynol 2000 was formulated to support your immune system. Seven antioxidant-dense ingredients produce a swarm of diverse, free-radical-fighting molecules that helps to protect your entire body from damage caused by oxidative stress. Using the entire cranberry to formulate the extract in CranVerry+ results in increased support for your immune system. The entire antioxidant-rich formulation helps in defending you against oxidative stress and its resulting inflammation. By teaming up FloraFood with Fit ’n Fiber, you give your body good bacteria (probiotics) and the fiber (prebiotics) that feeds them. This synbiotic combo gets to the core of the immune system in your gut, providing support.⁷ The Bifidobacterium bifidum in FloraFood is helpful in enhancing your body’s immune response and limiting the increase of harmful microorganisms. AIM’s diverse selection of products offers supplemental nutrition that works at improving and maintaining your health, this winter and season after season. Life with BarleyLife: From Past to Present

Asking About

Mellara Gold is an AIM Customer who began taking BarleyLife around the age of eight while living with her mother and brother on the Gold Coast of Australia. Her mom always tried to keep AIM’s barley grass powder on hand even though she was a single mom without a lot of money to spare. “My mom was ahead of her time, doing a naturopathy course when I was a small child,” Mellara recalled. “I remember always having BarleyLife in our house. And the funny thing is, I didn't mind taking it. I really liked the taste. Probably because my body knew that it was going to be beneficial for me . . . all that chlorophyll and kelp.” Considering that Mellara liked the taste of green drinks as a young girl says so much about introducing children to healthy foods at a young age, allowing them to develop good dietary habits early on in life. And Mellara has set this example with her own children, making an effort to keep BarleyLife on the table. She now lives with her husband, daughter and son on the East Coast of America.

It has been a long, insightful journey for Mellara that she candidly chronicled in two books: A Life Worth Living (2021) and Living in Awareness (2023). From aspiring actress in California to present-day yoga and meditation teacher in Massachusetts, Mellara recently appeared on the cover of OM Yoga & Lifestyle Magazine, in which she endorsed BarleyLife as her go-to drink. “With all of the choices available in life, when you are on to a good thing, whether yoga or BarleyLife, you have to keep going with it,” Mellara stated, summing up the situation so well.

Asking About

Fit ’n Fiber

The October issue of Living Well magazine featured an article on AIM’s fiber supplements, delving into their notable benefits and differences. Digging even deeper into the types of fiber in Fit ’n Fiber brings up a number of questions, some of which are answered on this page. What determines the acacia, guar gum and konjac in Fit ’n Fiber to be sources of prebiotic fiber? Fit 'n Fiber Even though all prebiotics are sourced from fiber, 6343E, $39.00 M, $41.50 C not all types are prebiotic, which must (CAN 6430E, $40.75 M, $43.50 C) be resistant to gastric acids and enzymatic hydrolysis that break down the nutritional components of your food intake. Acacia, guar gum and konjac are types of prebiotic, soluble fiber because each dissolves easily in fluids as they travel through the intestinal tract, becoming gel-like substances in the colon, where they can be fermented by good bacteria. This action gives these beneficial microorganisms a food source that allows them to grow in numbers and shape the makeup of beneficial bacterial species that protect your health. What are some of the health benefits of prebiotic fiber? The presence of prebiotic fiber in your dietary intake increases the number of Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli, good species that populate your microbiome. Along with improving gut barrier functions and immune system defense, the bacterial fermentation of prebiotic fiber produces beneficial short-chain fatty acids such as butyrate. What’s the importance of short-chain fatty acids produced from fermented prebiotic fiber? Along with being a nutrient source for your body, short-chain fatty acids support gut environment, pH balance, mineral absorption and glucose regulation. Current research suggests that short-chain fatty acids may play an important role in gut-brain communication and act as regulators in the metabolism and function of skeletal muscle, the largest organ in your body, affecting posture, movement and breathing. Why is Fit ’n Fiber suitable for weight management? Weight gain can be thought of as a result of energy imbalance. When you take in more calories (energy from food and drinks) than your body burns through metabolism, you gain weight. Drinking beverages made with Fit ’n Fiber fills you up with low-calorie fiber that helps you feel satiated and eat less.

AIM Gifts for the Holiday Season Ahead It’s only November, but as we all know, time flies. All too soon, the holiday season will be upon us. The special get-togethers for holidays such as Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa are such wonderful ways to bring the year to an end and begin a new one. The long-standing tradition of putting gifts under a Christmas tree includes those that have to be shipped in time to reach distant destinations. So maybe after all, November is a good month to begin your gift-giving plans. Depending on the holiday, gifts range from the lavish, reasonably priced and budget to the hand-crafted, culturally inspired and food-related. Whatever your involvement in the exchange of gifts, it’s good to keep in mind the aphorism, It is not the gift, but the thought that counts. With this in mind, it’s worth thinking about the gift of health this year, given the world’s all-too-recent exit from a pandemic that lasted for over three years. Consider giving gifts from the AIM lineup of nutrition that works at promoting good health. It’s an opportunity to introduce a healthy lifestyle choice to people who may never have tried boosting their nutritional intake with nutrientdense supplements. Whole-food powders that include those in the

Along with targeting heart health, GarlicAIM’s antioxidant and inflammation-fighting properties offer side support for your immune system, increasing overall body health. 2 Bulbs, 1 Leaf Black garlic bulb is a form of aged garlic derived through the gentle, temperature-controlled fermentation of raw garlic bulbs (Allium sativum) that are also an ingredient in GarlicAIM. Handpicked leaves of alpine wild garlic (Allium ursinum) complete its distinctive formulation.

Since the beginning of recorded history, the use of garlic was both medicinal and nutritional. Writings of antiquity from China, Greece and India extoll the medical virtues of garlic, as well as being mentioned in the bible as one of the longed-for foods. Dating back over 3,000 years ago in Egypt, cloves of perfectly preserved garlic were discovered in the tomb of King Tut, suggesting its preserved importance throughout the ages.

AIM Deep

You don’t have to be an AIM business builder to talk up the goodness of nutrition that works. Members and Customers alike know that when something works to improve your health, it’s worth sharing so that other people may also experience health benefits. Suppose you’re in public and happen to be drinking your go-to AIM beverage. If someone else asks about the green, chocolaty or creamy drink you’re enjoying, it’s a perfect time to let them know about AIM nutrition. One-on-one interactions are the primary way that AIM products are advertised. And there’s nothing like the personal touch for introducing people to something new that can really make a positive difference in their lives. Obviously, not everyone is going to be receptive to hearing a product pitch. But it’s the personal, non-pushy delivery of useful information that can create interest in trying something new. That “new” product could be BarleyLife because there remains a vast, untapped market for AIM’s top-notch, barley leaf juice powder. BarleyLife 5809E, $51.00 M, $54.50 C There are, of course, a seemingly endless number of products (CAN 5815E, $52.75 M, $55.50 C) in the marketplace that are purported to be healthy. But even people who regularly took an AIM product such as BarleyLife in the past and then stopped for a period of time, tend to remember it as something missing in their health care. BarleyLife can’t be replaced by any other so-called health product. This barley leaf juice powder has been around for over 40 years because it is nutrition that works. Many AIM Members have used BarleyLife as a foundational, business-building product. And Customers who talk up AIM can easily become Members anytime it feels right for them to launch home-based businesses of their own. Paying a membership fee of $20 gives you access to wholesale prices, volume discounts and the ability to sponsor other AIM Members and Customers, which opens the door to the unlimited depths of commission earnings from AIM.
